Hi there,
yet on the wordpress.com dashboard, it is listed as free.
What do you mean that the domain is listed as free? Currently, you own the domain name of johntmherres.com. Therefore, if other people try to purchase it via WordPress.com dashboard, they can’t purchase it and will get a message like “johntmherres.com is taken“.
If you have further questions, please let us know anytime. I hope I’m not misunderstanding the meaning of your question.
Thanks :)

Hi johntmherres,
I have this website as a paid domain, yet on the wordpress.com dashboard, it is listed as free.
There are currently two sites in your account:
1. johntmherres.com
The domain johntmherres.com was registered through Enom and is being used for a self hosted WordPress.org site. This site is connected to your WordPress.com account by the Jetpack plugin. In order for the domain to show on the Domains page of your WordPress.com account, it would need to have been registered through us or connected to a WordPress.com site with domain mapping.
2. johntmherres.wordpress.com
The free domain you are seeing in your account is for the WordPress.com site, johntmherres.wordpress.com. This site uses the Free plan and has no custom domain. Please let me know if you have any questions.

So, am I to understand that, even though I pay for the domain johntmherres.com I have to pay more to have it listed as paid with wordpress.com? That just does not sound ethical. I was under the impression that when I paid for the wordpress.com website under my name, it should show as a paid domain/website in my dashboard and across all WordPress sites I use.
I would attach the screenshot I took, but see no option on how to do that. -
Hi johntmherres,

The payment to Enom is for domain registration and doesn’t include any WordPress.com services.
If you wanted to use the domain on johntmherres.wordpress.com, you would need to upgrade. Domain mapping can be used to connect johntmherres.com to any WordPress.com site.
I was under the impression that when I paid for the wordpress.com website under my name, it should show as a paid domain/website in my dashboard and across all WordPress sites I use.
No upgrades have been purchased for johntmherres.wordpress.com — this site uses the free plan so there are no charges.
The money you’ve paid is for your self hosted WordPress.org site. These are separate charges to third party companies (WestHost and Enom).
I would attach the screenshot I took, but see no option on how to do that.
Please upload the screenshot to the Media Library on johntmherres.wordpress.com and I’ll be happy to take a look.
Thanks John!
