Xanga archive titles not showing up

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I successfully uploaded all of my xanga entries onto WordPress. However, the archive titles (December 2010, August 2010, etc.) do not all show up even though the actual entries themselves have been uploaded. Why is this and can it be fixed? All of the archive titles are there from May 2004 – early 2009, but after that they jump to August 2010 and then December 2010 and then nothing. I have entries from 2011, 2012, and 2013 that have been uploaded. Where are the archive month titles for all of those entries?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Each of the files that came with your Xanga export includes a portion of your Xanga blog, and all of them must be imported in order to have them show up on WordPress.com. My best guess is that either you accidentally skipped one or more files during the import process, or for some reason they were not included in the Xanga export.

You can open up each of the .xml files in a text editor to see the contents. Ignoring the code, you should be able to sift through them to find the file(s) that include the missing posts, assuming they are in the export, and then you can import those files only.

Thank you for the response! Just to clarify, ALL of my xanga posts have been successfully uploaded. What I’m talking about are the “quick links” at the bottom of my blog that take you to any month you choose. All of these links for 2013, 2012, and 2011 are missing. The majority are missing from 2010 and 2009. However, ALL of the entries from those years are accessible by manually going back in time. Any thoughts? on why this is?

It looks like the months you are missing in your archives are those months where you had either no posts or only posts set to private. Private posts do not show up in the archives widget as they are not publicly available.

That explains it! Thank you very much for your investigation! I was driving myself nuts haha. Is there any way to quickly access these entries by date without setting them to public? If not, I understand. The reason I ask is that I love to go back to see what I was doing on or around [date] last year, the year before…etc. On xanga, that was easily accessible by a calendar on the bottom of the page.

You can always access your private posts via your Dashboard under “all posts’, but will not be able to view the private posts via the public blog.
