XML and Images

I have the XML file for our local heritage centre’s old site but the links for the images are all incorrect over time the folder names have been saved without applying the original name.
Would it be better to rename and maybe place in new folder ? would this allow us to point the XML to this folder.
We are all WordPress / website novices.

    Hi there!

Can you let us know the URL of the site where you’re having this problem and what site you’re trying to import to? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

    Thank you!

  • Hello there,

Ok, so you could look to run a search and replace, which will show the images, if the file themselves are in the media library?

Where are you looking to host the site exactly?

we currently have Bluehost package, with 12 months to run.
the domain name was with 123reg and not transferrable in.
so we are currently looking at a new domain but will this time take one that is transferable over multiple hosting agents.

More specifically, are you planning on hosting your site here at WordPress.com or staying with Bluehost?

If your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited to what we can help with and advise. Also, since our infrastructure is slightly different from what you can do with the WordPress software on other hosting providers, our advice would be dependent on that as well.

Just let us know and we’ll be better able to advise or point you in the right direction to get help.
