Xml export file from WP.org too big to import onto WP.com. Solutions ?

Thank you for your quick and kind answer, Supernovia.

Yes, the images and pdf files work perfectly, thank you for asking.

Thank you also for proposing to do the import again for me. Yet I will not do it, because I’m afraid that I may lose some important modification that I may have made on my new blog, because, silly me, I haven’t kept track of what I have done… Moreover, the old blog is not easily accessible anymore : I did a RedirectPermanent in the .htaccess file, and I don’t know how your importer works, if it needs to access the old blog through the .htaccess file or whatever. So never mind, I’ll correct every link as they come to my attention. Thanks again.

About the table of content or index by category, well unfortunately in my specific case this existing categories widget will not work. My blog is an online cookbook so what I need is a list for each category of all the titles (and only the titles) in alphabetic order, exactly like the index in a paper cookbook. Such a widget would have been a great addition to the blog, but it is not very important per se.

And last but not least, the mobile theme with the search widget. You wrote “you currently have the default mobile theme active, which comes with a search box at the top”… What ? It comes with a search engine at the top ? So I take my phone and… There it is ! How come I didn’t see it the last time I checked ? Shame on me ! So I try a search, I get a list of recipes according to my search, but when I select one of the recipes, it doesn’t work : I get an error message : “safari could not open the page because the server doesn’t answer”. In French, of course, so this is my personal translation of the error message. I hope this is just an momentary error, that it will work tomorrow (it’s almost midnight here). I’ll come back to you if it doesn’t work ! ;-)

There’s only one last thing for me to write : Thank you ! More than 1400 visits today ! Yesssss !

  • Hmm, well, you could make a custom menu, add the category links, save that, then use it in a Custom Menu Widget.

Or, if you mean you want the titles for all recipes to appear under a category, you could do something like this:

    [display-posts category="plats" posts_per_page="-1" order="ASC" orderby="title"]

I just don’t know how well that would fit in a widget, but you could try it and see how you like it! You could also put it on a Table of Contents page.

So now I’m going to do the real thing on my real blog, and it’s going to be just perfect !
    Thank you again !
