XML-RPC Location
-
I just began blogging. I have a piece of journaling software called JOURNLER and I am on a Mac. I supposedly can set up a place where I can do my blog in this program and then just post it to my wordpress blog….because it is MegaWeblog API compatible. But in the setup I am asked to put my XML-RPC LOCATION…and I have no idea what that is…any ideas? Also not sure what to put on BLOG ID….any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am trying to help here, but I am not sure how the offline editors work with wordpress.com. I know there are a few that automatically work with wordpress.com, but not sure if they all do. Here is a post that might be useful
Normally, it would be the following URL (for self-hosted wordpress):
http://designsbydede.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php
Most editors ask for USERNAME and PASSWORD for wordpress blogs. I don’t know what BLOG ID would be, but ? Not sure if that server address I told you above will work on this service or not. IF not, maybe search for wordpress.com offline editors. There were some listed in the link I gave you above!
Hope that gives you a start!

What you are looking for is the server and path and these these threads have the information you are looking for in them.

http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/01/20/xml-rpc-and-desktop-apps/There is also a thread in the forum search box listing all the off-line blog editors and publishers that can be used with wordpress.com blogs.

The MegaWeblog API should be able to pull up the blog id for the poster. If not, drop staff a feedback and ask them. If for some reason, I can pull it up myself if you add me in as an admin to your blog.

Hi I just want to confirm that the suggested
http://->YourBlognameGoesHere<-.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.phpis working with Journler.
Just substitude ->YourBlognameGoesHere<- with your registered Blog name and enter the line into the field named XML-RPC. The Blog Type should be ‘MetaWeblog API’ and the Blog’s Location is the one a visitor has to enter to access the blog. In our case it would be:
http://->YourBlognameGoesHere<-.wordpress.com/That’s all, pretty straight forward isn’t it?
Cheers

WordPress.com doesn’t currently do anything with the blog_id field so I recommend just putting in the number one.
