Yahoo Staging and changing a domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Yahoo support tried for hours to get staging to work and the staging won’t work and I cannot get rid of my current site until the new one is built.

I have two domains, can I build the site on the domain that has no site and when the site is done and ready to publish, can I change the domain to the domain that I am not able to stage building the site on?

Or any other easier way to be able to build live without disrupting my current site. Yes, I have tried the WP Staging app and it just says it is loading for hours on end and I have tried three separate times.

What I also do not understand is the staging works on my site-less domain, but it will not work on my domain that has my current site. But that is Yahoo’s issue. But I am down to needing to get my site done in less then 10 days and I can’t build what I can’t even get started. Help please….. :)

Hi there, what’s the address of the site you need help with? Once we know that we can point you in the right direction for support.

Keep in mind that this support forum you’ve posted to assists users with free websites hosted on the WordPress.com platform. WordPress.com is a service that hosts WordPress sites, powered by Automattic. WordPress.org is a community where people work on the open source WordPress software. It’s also where that software can be downloaded to be run on your own web server. You can read more about these differences at https://wordpress.org/support/article/wordpress-vs-wordpress-com/

In case you need help with a site using the open source WordPress software, head over to https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll find documentation and users who have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.

Thank you. The website is howacoglass.com hosted on yahoo. (current site was built on a platform they decided to stop supporting and gave its users very little time to plan for alternatives and no updating can be done on the site) I plan on transferring my domain, but I am out of time to do that with needing a new site up asap. Transfers can sometimes take more time then I have to get the site done unfortunately.

Hello again, so you are looking to move your current website to WordPress.com (the hosting provider)? If so, we do have a guide you can follow here: https://transferto.wordpress.com/

Depending on your needs, you can also start with a free WordPress.com subdomain and build your site then either transfer or map your domain before you launch it. More about domains here> https://wordpress.com/support/domain-mapping-vs-domain-transfer/ and you will need a paid plan in order to use a custom domain. You can see all the available upgrade plans and their costs here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

If instead you have purchased hosting with a 3rd party (like Bluehost, Godaddy and such like) then the place to get your questions answered would be with their support directly.

For general help with the WordPress software > https://wordpress.org/support/

I hope that helps, but please post back here if you have more questions.
