Yet ANOTHER Domain mapping (and email too)

Well, I had a domain name. terraspirit.org. Purchased through bravenet.com
It had been redirecting to Freewebs.com.I went to my host at bravenet.com and changed the name servers to the wordpress servers.
All seemed to be well, I also changed the re-direct from freewebs.com to wordpress. (not sure if I needed to do that)
So all seemed to work fairly well except that when i typed in terraspirit.org, my wordpress.com url showed in the window. Not sure why.
So I used ‘mask’ through bravenet, which worked fine except that then EVERY link on the page came up as terraspirit.org once it loaded.

So, I did the whole google apps thing to get email going.
I decided that i did not like the long mail.googgle.com/a/terraspirit.org address needed to get to the email, so I wanted to do the cName thing. Bravenet told me that in order to access that part of my name servers, I would first have to change my name servers BACK to pointing at bravehost.com and then I could make the changes and then go back again to reset the ns to wordpress….
So now however, if i keep my terraspirit.org as my main blog url (the top option under Domains at wordpress) with fvpf.wordpress.com underneath it with the (place blog here) next to it, well.. .my site wont load at all, just keeps saying it is looping and redirecting – in Firefox, or blank page in IE…. BUt the mail.terraspirit.org link works.
And if I switch it, to fvpf.wordpress.com as my top domain… with terraspirit.org under it, the site works, BUT fvpf.wordpress.com stays in the addy bar AND i can no longer use mail.terraspirit.org to access the mail.
    Im confused…
Which way should the domains be staggered if I want to be able to enter terraspirit.org and be brought to my wordpress page?
And is there no way to make the mail.terraspirit.org url work with this?

You need to change the “put blog here” in the domain mapping in your wordpress blog admin. Once you map the domain in the upgrades sectiion you have the option to have the end URL as your wordpress blog URL or the new domain. It goes to wordpress.com URL by default.

And AFAIK, you cannot do the CNAME thing with the servers pointed here, so you are stuck with that long Google thing.

As an alternative, think about using a subdomain instead of the main domain to point here. For example, blog.terraspirit.org will allow you to have your top domain pointed elsewhere and give you access to the CNAME thing.
