Ymail no longer exists. I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO MY REGISTERED EMAIL; NEVER WILL
-
Someone! PLEASE flag this for staff attention. This is my 3rd attempt to get WordPress staff to UNDERSTAND THIS SITUATION. I had another WordPress account before I created this one. That lost WordPress account still exists because the ?create account? form tells me it already exists and therefore will not let me create it. The “registered email” I used for that lost WordPress account is a Ymail email. Ymail was discontinued by Yahoo long ago so I DON’T HAVE ANY OF THE MESSAGES WITH WORDPRESS KEYS OR CODES OR ANYTHING. Repeat: I don’t have access to my registered email and never will again — the Ymail system NO LONGER EXISTS. So, since my account still exists, since you can see my pictures on the WordPress account, and you can find them elsewhere on the web by googling, and since I have exactly the same email account name I had before at Ymail NOW AT Yahoo.com, and since I can answer any security questions you can find or can dream up, ISN’T THERE SOME WAY I CAN HAVE MY WORDPRESS ACCOUNT BACK? –Ian Ray Hawke
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P.S. The blog I need help with is NOT prosandcannes.wordpress.com. That line was generated automatically. I created that account as a way to reach WordPress to try and get to my lost account which is ianrayhawke.wordpress.com.

Hello,
have you tried the Account Recovery form?
-
Thanks, hfzrhmn, but the Account Recovery form requires information that I no longer have — because my email account no longer exists. If I don’t fill in that information, the form will not go through. it just keeps asking for that information. This is my 3rd try and WordPress does not seem to have a solution for anyone whose email account and
WordPress email information are completely gone. -
There’s a link on the account recovery form that allows you to add additional information (Need More Help).
But regardless, I’m going to tag this for Staff assistance since it would appear that since this is a global change for all YMail accounts, perhaps something could be done on WordPress.com’s end. (No promises)
-
Also, you should let us know what is the WordPress.com website you are trying to recover.
-
Thanks, justjennifer! Let’s hope this time that the staff person actually reads the post and understands it – unlike the last one who just told me to use my registered email and then closed down the conversation. Please know also that, although the Account Recovery form has that space for adding additional information, it will not go through without filling in the other boxes which I can’t do because that information all turned to vapor when my Ymail account was erased by Yahoo. Because of this I also have to guess at what my website was — I have no existing information, again, because my registered email no longer exists and I never printed it or wrote it down. I never dreamed Ymail was going to be vapor! Based on how the page for this account is configured, my website must have been: http://ianrayhawke.wordpress.com
-
So, do you want to regain control of the account because it has the username ianrayhawke? Because you can just change your Nickname on the Profile page of your dashboard and it should work. Or we could have staff change THIS username to that one.
-
Thanks, raincoaster, but when I try to do that it just tells me words to the effect of: “the user name you have selected is already in use – please select another user name.” Yes, it is “in use” because the account I created still exists. WordPress never deletes accounts — or at least they haven’t seen the need to yet, they tell me. Obviously, they don’t want a number of people posting on different accounts with the same user name, so it makes sense. The only solution is to restore access to the account I created. I believe there are many ways they can authenticate my identity!
