"You are posting comments too quickly, slow down"

  Hi

  Two of my blog followers have contacted me in the last couple of days to say they’re getting an error message every time they try and leave a comment. The messages says:

  ‘You are posting comments too quickly, slow down’.

  By coincidence(?), the level of spam comments over the last few days has inexplicably increased.

  Help please.

  Ask them not to comment for few days maybe they are trigering akismet

  Posting a succession of no value or low value one word. or one sentence comments such as but not limited to “excellent post” is the behavior that’s associated with spammers.

  One of my blog’s visitors told me she was getting the same ‘too fast’ message yesterday. She gave up after several attempts.
  I have tried to leave test comments, and I’m being asked to log in with WP or social media id to do so.
  HOWEVER – My settings are specifically set (I’ve checked) to allow comment without log-in, register or even email (just be held in moderation til I approve it).
  What’s happening please WordPress?

  The comments that are being rejected consist of more than one or two words.

  I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these genuine comments are being rejected while at the same time there’s been a massive increase in spam comments turning up in the spam folder. I’ve gone from having roughly 5-10 spam comments a day, to over 1,000 a day.

  What’s going on?

  Hi there!

  I tried leaving comments on both your blogs and didn’t encounter any problems. Did your friends receive the message after leaving a previous comment or did the error pop up while trying to make their first comment?

  I’ve gone from having roughly 5-10 spam comments a day, to over 1,000 a day.

  Spam is indeed a constant problem that we are trying to address everyday. The good news is that they do end up in your spam folder and that means Akismet is doing its job. Additionally, you may control the way your blog handles spam:
