'You attempted to edit an item that doesn’t exist' error for Category name change

Attempting to change the name of a category in the WP Admin interface, we get an error: ‘You attempted to edit an item that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?’ Category has not been deleted. Can’t seem to change any Category name.

1. To edit or delete a category assigned to a post (whether it’s a draft or has already been published), go to Dashboard → Posts → All Posts in your dashboard, hover over the title and click the Edit link. To delete the post click the Trash link.

2. To edit/delete categories in your dashboard go to Dashboard → Posts → Categories
