You changed the audio player – it broke 100s of posts – will you change it back?

You have changed the appearance of the audio player and it breaks the design of hundreds of our posts.
Please create a workaround so we can use the old player, and not have to update hundreds of posts, please.
I have been seriously considering moving the site to Squarespace or Medium. If this is not resolved quickly, I will move away from wordpress. Thanks for years of reliable service.

Hi there!
I’m sorry about that! All of the changes we’ve made to the audio player recently should have been backwards compatible. Are your players still broken? Can you give me a link or two to the posts with the broken players?
If you’d like to move your site to another host, here’s are some tips for moving your content!

Let me know if I can help further!

Thanks for the response – it looks like the way they are now affecting the layout is not as bad. It is not a matter of a broken player, but breaking my layout. When I looked at them on the April 29, the player was drawing across my right aligned images. Now it renders below them.
Still, the audio player is a graphic element of a layout – changing the size of an element affects every page that element is on. Now I have to reconsider the layout of about 70 posts: the new player sits in a position that makes it unclear if it is the audio or video a user wants to play.
I wish I had an image of the old player – which was only about 20 pixels in length, and much more attractive. You replaced it with one that spans the whole frame. Is there code to resize it? Can I manipulate it with CSS?

BTW – please forgive my outburst. It was ungracious and unnecessary.

I totally see what you mean. We made this change to be aligned with the core WordPress software again. (We had meandered away with customizations specific to WordPress.com.)
Unfortunately, we don’t have an easy way to change the size of these players. The CSS to change the size is a little bit more complex than I can really help with, but you may want to check out the CSS forums and see if any of our awesome volunteers can help you out!
