you do not own that identity

When you type out exactly what site your were on and what you were doing when you received that error message I may be able to help.
-
When you register a username account here all that’s required is an email address, which becomes your unique identifier. If you are logged in and register a blog then it’s registered under that unique identifier. You cannot access any blog unless you are logged in under the exact username account that registered the blog.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility -
I signed up for this identity today, when I log in to comment on other blogs, I’m told “I do not own that identity”
Yes, yes I do.
I do not know what is broken. -
What is the URL if the blog starting with http:// that you tried to comment on?
Were you trying to leave a comment on a Blogger ie. blogspot.com blog?
-
That’s not a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. That’s a Movable Type blog so naturally you don’t own that identity there. I don’t know how one leaves a comment on that blog. I suggest you go to Google and search for the Movable Type support link.

When I try to comment there, it asks me to sign in using a variety of identities, including a WordPress.com identity. I thought having a WordPress identity would help.
-
No that’s not the WordPress.COM identity that you can select. I’ll bet it’s the WordPress.ORG identity. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and we have separate username accounts for each. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I was having the same problem. So, if I want to comment on a blog that allows “wordpress” identity, and it’s NOT a wordpress.com blog, should I try to snag the same/similar identity for wordpress.org?
