  The paid plan includes 1 free year of domain registration: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  After that, the domain renews at the rates listed here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

  However, the paid plan itself is not free for the first year.

  Would you mind letting us know where you saw that the plan was free for the first year? We’d love to get that cleared up; thanks!
