"YOU MAY LIKE" gives no access to discover the millions of WordPress bloggers
-
Hello to the WordPress Support Team,
I would like to say a huge thank you for your swift response previously. I appreciate that a lot. It makes working towards presenting the best blog one can so much easier.
In the Reader page one can click on “YOU MAY LIKE” and land up week after week with the exact same blogs to discover. I have looked at Recommended blogs and tried to find new blogs by clicking on other blogs’ commenters and such. Long story short; of all the millions of bloggers on WordPress, why does it seem that it has been made purposefully difficult to discover new blogs?
Each time I effortlessly click “YOU MAY LIKE”, it feels like there is a clog in the system, a serious traffic jam.
What can we do about this?
Thank you kindly in advance for your time and help,
Nomzi Kumalo. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Nomzi!
The “You may like” section is populated based upon your interactions (blogs similar to those you’ve already liked or blogs followed by users you already follow for example). So, you’re likely to see similar blogs unless you make a drastic change with how you’re interacting with WordPress.com. Have you tried using the “More” option shown here?

Hello Jeremey,
The fast response at WordPress is astoundingly refreshing. Thank you.
Yes, I do use the “More” option. For those of us who are selective about who we follow it is taking dinosaur years to build up network traffic and expanding this option would swiftly change the pace of interaction between us WordPress users.
It makes sense to encounter hundreds upon thousands of poetry blogs, as a poetry blog, instead of bumping into random blogs followed by users I already follow. Perhaps one could choose the category in “YOU MAY LIKE”. I also may like one post on a blog but that does not mean that I want to follow it. Tags can be endlessly misleading.
I think that the WordPress Team should seriously reconsider this “YOU MAY LIKE” option, its function and its potential impact in the dynamics between us as WordPress users and WordPress as a whole. A win win situation perhaps.
Thank you once again for your time.
Kind regards,
Nomzi Kumalo. -

Hi Nomzi,
When you mentioned the option to choose a category, I also thought of this:
https://wordpress.com/recommendations/
Have you tried out “Recommendations” before?

Hi Jeremy,
I did try “Recommendations” and it was very useful. I think I will give that another try again. Thank you once more.
