You took EDIT off the dashboard menu. Why?

I know it’s hard to resist, but please stop changing the items in my dashboard menu every few days. Now you’ve removed the edit function which allowed me to quickly fix mistakes in a published post by taking EDIT (for the post displayed) off the menu. Now it’s multiple keystrokes to display a list of posts and click on the one I want to edit. Please bring back the EDIT option on the dashboard menu.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I still have an edit link so perhaps I don’t understand where it disappeared from in your case. Will you provide a screenshot for Staff please? I’ll tag this thread for their attention. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide screenshots you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

Can’t provide screen shot because menu that used to have edit on it drops down when mouse pointer hovers over name of blog.

The old options displayed as follows. Click on blog name. Select the post with the error. Hover over blog name. Menu dropped down. Included on that menu was EDIT and selecting it put the displayed post into the edit mode. Now the menu displays: STATS, CLASSIC DASHBOARD, COMMENTS, VISIBILITY, etc.

Since the word “unsubscribe” is there, I assume I’m already subscribed: these updates have been appearing in my e-mail in-box.

    Thanks for the reminder, though.

Yes that does mean you are subscribed Malcolm. :)

  • Hi, Malcolm. You should still have access to the Edit link in the menu–the order has changed a bit to move the more popular actions to the top of the menu. The edit function is now located after the Comments link when viewed on individual posts and pages.

You can also edit posts and pages by clicking on the Edit link at the bottom of each post, next to the tags and comments. If you use that link, you will not have to visit the post or page first.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t know THAT odd icon was the edit link because it doesn’t say “edit.” It’s sort of a take-off on the graphic one sees when a linked-in picture is missing from a display.

Whatever that thing is, it works.

    Appreciate your help.
