You tube videos
-
I have a video from You tube that i put on my website, but i have now gone back to it, and whilst the original is still there, when I put a copied link down, it just stays as the wording but no video appears as shown below….
The videos are the one that i put there initially the other links are what I have done since.
Why is the video not showing…..? What am I doing wrong?
Showing 2 links, one from my admin page which I wasnt sure you could see and one from preview page.
Thanks in advance

Hi! The difference seems to be in the Youtube sharing link – it seems like the YouTube URL with
livein it won’t embed (as in your post:https://www.youtube.com/live/eWXsZ3bwJSg?feature=share), while the shorter sharing link such ashttps://youtu.be/2d55-sbWMh4does embed.Additionally, I tested copying the “main” URL of the first video, which comes out like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWXsZ3bwJSg– that one does seem to embed! -
Hi 95percentghost,
Right like this one https://youtu.be/vo3BRlSkv-k it just shows the link not the video itself albeit it is a song….
But this one is a video……
But that wont show the video either…..
Where is the shorter link then, slightly confused…

Hello there,
I hope this helps.
So with these links here:
https://www.youtube.com/live/eWXsZ3bwJSg?feature=share https://www.youtube.com/live/eWXsZ3bwJSg?feature=shareIt looks like these were perhaps live streamed at one point. As far as I know it’s not possible to add live stream links into the YouTube block.
Instead, you would need to add this link here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWXsZ3bwJSgAlso, it looks like the theme is Twenty Ten, which is no longer supported. It may be the case that the theme/block is susceptible to issues. I’d recommend using the full YouTube video link, which is the one seen in the browser address, rather than the short link.
I hope this helps.

Hi there,
Ah right ok, well for some reason, they have now shown up!
I’m not sure exactly which ones you are referring to but I noticed that these two YouTube Live links are not appearing as embeds

As mentioned above, YouTube Live videos don’t behave quite the same as standard video uploads. In taking a closer look though I did discover a workaround that you may be able to use, and that is to get a copy of Google’s HTML embed code for the video.
HTML embeds like this do not typically work on free sites (in most cases they require an upgrade to our Business Plan) but for YouTube specifically they do sometimes work since we’ve whitelisted that provider.
It does require copying and pasting a bit of HTML code though, so I recorded a video to show you how you’d add it to an HTML block. You can watch the video at this link.
It looks like you are using the classic editor still, and that does not have an HTML block, but you can click the tab in that interface to see the code view of your post and paste it that way.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
