Hm, ok, is that happening on all threads or just a specific one? Are you subscribed to this one? If not, would you please subscribe, then try unsubscribing.
If it fails again on this thread, it would be easier to test here.

All threads that I’m subscribed to.
Just tried on this thread, which I was already subscribed to, and received the same failure notice after clicking on the link in the notification email to unsubscribe.

Well, you see the problem here is that the forums have become self-aware and they don’t want you to unsubscribe.
(Kidding, I hope, we’re looking into this.)

Three different forum subscriptions:
First unsubscribe attempt: If I’m logged in to WPcom, clicking on the unsubscribe link in the email brings me to the appropriate thread and it shows that I am no longer subscribed. (This one)
Second unsubscribe attempt: If I’m not logged to WPcom, clicking on the unsubscribe link in the email brings me to the front page of the forums.
Third unsubscribe attempt: Your attempt to do this has failed.

I’m just a bit confused. It seems like the 1st attempt worked as you were unsubscribed? Was it not the case?

I have this on all of mine too. I just ignore it click into the threads and unsubscribe in them.

I think I have always received that same error message. Well, for as long as I can recall and you are right about not sweating small stuff. I have a whole new perspective now.

It was recently fixed. Are the threads you are trying to unsubscribe from older threads? Do you have any from an hour or so back that still does this?

Here are the threads I tried to unsubscribe from:
Attempt #1: This thread while logged in. Result: Success!
Attempt #2: Forum Sticky on the new Post Editor Improvements while logged out. Result: Redirected to Forum front page rather than log-in page. After logging in, still ended up on the Forum front page.
Attempt #3: “How to make a photo slideshow as a gallery?” while logged in. Result: Your attempt to do this has failed. The last post in that thread is from August 26th. Hardly enough time to grow mold on it.
