Your Blog Name Included in Akismet Caught Spam?

    I just noticed something while clearing out my Akismet Spam cache — there were several Spammy messages that included the title of my blog!

    I suppose the reason behind that is because the Spammers get revenge on us for agreeing their message is Spam and deleting their comments and trackbacks from Akismet and so, by default, or blog names slowly become associated with blog Spam…

    Is this something new or has it been going on awhile?

    Is there any way we can fight that scheme without waiting until we start getting legit messages and pingbacks and trackbacks bearing our blog names caught as false-positives?

    I don’t know. Although I thought it was strange that I made a reply to my own blog while I was logged in and it went to spam. So.. My Blog + Logged In + My Comment = Spam. Very strange. It only did it once.

    Oh, get used to that! SMILE! I get caught all the time by Akismet as a Spammer even though I own the blog and I’m logged in and it is intensely maddening when it happens.

    I report it and it gets cleared up really fast, but if your blog is hopping, you can quickly get left out of your own discussion stream.
