Your domain has not been registered yet therefore cannot be mapped.

    Hi,

I bough some days ago a new domain for my wordpress webpage but I could not map it to wordpress.

I did whatever I read before:

    – Go to my Domain company (nominalia.com) and change the DNS (in my case, Nominalia asked for the IP associated to the DNS. For this reason I changed also the IPs adresses with the ones that I’ve found in http://www.intomydns.com for wordpress). So right now my DNS are:

    ns1.wordpress.com (IP:198.181.116.9)
    ns2.wordpress.com (IP:198.181.117.9)
    ns3.wordpress.com (IP:192.0.74.9)

Although doing this and waiting for almost a week, the answer after clicking the button [Map it] to map a new domain is always:

Sorry but cdciencies.cat has not been registered yet therefore cannot be mapped.

    Can you help me?

Thank you very much for your support!

  • Hi, it looks like the name server settings did not take effect: it still points to nominalia here.

Can you fix that with your registrar then try adding the domain again?

  • Hi @supernovia,

I just tried mapping a random, already registered .cat domain for testing purposes, and it’s showing this same error message:
    https://cloudup.com/cKGOBuqH3hq

Most probably support for .cat extension is not added at the backend yet, so just wanted to report this.

  • Adding to above post, I just checked and it accepted “mem.cat” without any problem. I guess “mine.cat”, even though registered, was not accepted because it’s “parked”.

Doesn’t seem like an issue, apologies.

  • Name servers pointing to:
    dns1.nominalia.com
    dns2.nominalia.com

They aren’t pointing to WordPress.com’s name servers yes, but not sure why this domain and “mine.cat” is returning the “domain not registered” error. They both are, and have expiration dates in 2016.

    Hi!

Thanks to both of you for helping me.

Well, yesterday I changed the dns to nominalia again to see if at least the dns propagation was correct (with whatsmydns) and now my domain appears in all the dns servers.

On the other hand when I change to wordpress DNS servers there is no dns propagation.

A part from that, I read different things about mapping in wordpress.

    What is first?

1)clicking on the map it button

    Or

    2)changing DNS names?

In the wordpress support faqs it seems that clicking on the button (before changing the dns nams) is first.

I have the same error in both cases so I think that is something related with the .cat domain as previously you said.

    I don’t know what I should do…

  • Please try changing the name servers to these first:
    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

And after you’ve done that, then try mapping the domain. Let me know when you’ve tried that. Thanks!

As you can read in my first post I changed the dns to wordpress and tried to map the domain for more than a week.

Now the dns are from nominalia but in any case it is possible to map the domain…

As previously said, I think there is something related with the domaint yhat blocks the mapping…

  • Okay, I’ve added a subscription for you, which you can renew to purchase here:
    https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades

After you’ve paid for mapping and verified this page displays our name servers:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

… go to wordpress.com/my-domains to make it your primary domain. Cheers!
