Your FEE instead of being free as stated.

Hi, I am quite interested in joining. However, you mentioned that it was free if I didn’t want to upgrade.
I’m wondering the reason (s) that you are charging a little over $24.00 after it was stated that it’s free!
I am very interested in volunteering in Florida to count the hawks. I would enjoy that as well as my husband would. I am retired but want to volunteer. Could you please help me by answering my question about your fee?

WordPress.com is certainly free unless you purchase any paid upgrades. So far, I don’t see any upgrades or transactions on your account.
Where are you seeing this $24 charge at?

This is a peer to peer support forum (for the most part: staff does stop in often) and we volunteers cannot see anything “behind the scenes.” WordPress.COM is free if you don’t opt for an upgrade.
If you go to your dashboard—>store (shopping cart icon)—>the flyout menu should list which upgrades are attached to your account.
Do you see anything listed there?

Hi, That fee came up at the very end after I had given my name, address, etc. I did not see my dashboard & I didn’t see the flyout menu. Also, I skipped the upgrade options! Thank you both! I’ll try again tomorrow.

camalo412, I think we were just offering to sell you a domain name, like example.com. You really don’t need one of those, and can decline to have a free blog at example.wordpress.com.

I’m in Michigan but Florida sounds great in the winter LOL We saw lots of hawks in our old house, but now we are in a subdivision with mature trees so we hardly see the sky except straight overhead.
The staff member (macmanx) indicated that there were no upgrades attached to your account.
I meant that you could look now on your dashboard to see if there is anything listed there. But if he can’t see anything, I don’t know what the charge could be for.

Yes, I was asked for my credit card & that was after the site stated that they would not ask for personal info…kind of infuriating to me! Naturally, I did not give any of that info.

Well, we didn’t charge you anything, and I assure you that WordPress.com is 100% free unless you specifically chose to include any paid upgrades.
Have you finished the signup process? Also, specifically what blog name are you attempting to register?

WOW! Ten folks are arriving at your place for dinner. I hope that your dinner is done & that you have some help. Maybe you can order some take out from a very nice restaurant…kind of cheating but I think it’s a great idea when folks don’t have the time to cook. I have plenty of time to cook but we prefer to eat out of get wonderful take out food. Enjoy!
