  I renewed in November 2018. I have now received an email offering me a further renewal with domain name for a total sum of £36.00? Essentially why now so soon after renewing and secondly, what exactly are the benefits. Does it mean my renewal would then rollover into 2020 November?

  I believe that offer to renew for an extra year early to cover you to November 2020 is to take advantage of a reduced price. If you wait and renew in November 2019 the cost will be the price of the plan along with an added cost for renewing your custom domain.
  PS: I presume you have another site as the one attached to this account has no content.
