Basically I used to use wordpress but I hardly do anymore because it;s not great. I tried to comment on a blog post that is hosted on wordpress and you insisted i sign in. When I tried to sign in, of course I didn’t remmeber my password so I had to reset it. I then went through the reset process and it suggested a strong password, but this didn’t transfer to the sign in on the blog post and I didnt write it down because I saved it to chrome. So then I had to go through the whole process again and finally I have a password. So when i log in, it doesn’t post the thoughtful comment I spent some time writing in the first place. So you put me through torture then disregarded my comments. What a time waster and also disrespectful. It’s a fault of your serviceand shouldn’t be posted on your forum. You just need to fix it so that you don’t waste people’s time.

Hi, sorry you had a frustrating experience! I have some ideas on what went wrong and how to avoid that.

If you comment with an email address that has an account here, we do indeed ask you to log in with a secure password — both security measures which prevent rascals (usually spam bots) from pretending to be you.

We have a few workarounds though:

    1) Consider using a password manager. Most browsers have one, and I think most operating systems do, too. Or you can use a third party password management app. That’s what I do: I can use very strong passwords and only have to remember one password for my app. If I change computers or devices, I just install the app there.

    2) If you don’t want to log in at all, comment with a different email address, or even an email alias. For example, with gmail, you’ll get an alias if you add a dot somewhere in the account name, like (email visible only to moderators and staff). You can still get reply notifications, but our system won’t recognize you or make you log in. Just note, you won’t get your Gravatar icon, and the site may not recognize that you have commented before.

On that last note, I’m guessing your comment is pending rather than disregarded. Most sites are configured to remember people (or email addresses) who have had comments approved before, and automatically publish those comments. They hold the rest in a “pending” queue so the site owner can review and decide whether to approve them. And some sites hold all comments for manual approval. Again, that’s a protection, this time for the site owner, from spammers, abuse, and other shenanigans.

Since your comment was thoughtful, I’m guessing it will be approved soon.

    Hoping this helps!
