    Visitors to my site clicks are unable to subscribe to my site.
    They click on the subscribe button on the blog page, type in an email address and then get the message:

    ‘Your subscription did not succeed. Please try again with a valid email address.’

    I have checked the Plugins page, the email by subscriptions shows as ‘active’.

    In Marketing, the standard Mailchimp option is also active and states linked to FifthRingPress though I honestly have no idea if it is trying to subscribe through that list or through the standard WordPress subscribe form.

    I am using the basic free package, have no web experience and TBH am completely lost.

    Any advice on this would be great along with step by step instructions on how to resolve it.

    Hi there,

    Of what site are you speaking? You only have one site with us, https://fifthringpress.home.blog/, and I don’t see any subscription widget or Mailchimp form set up on that site.

    The only subscription option I see is the default follow button, bottom right on the site, and I’m able to use that to sign up for email notifications without any issues. If that button is not accepting someone’s email address, we’ll need to know what email address they’re trying to use in order to investigate this.

    The follow button widget you have added to your footer can only be used by someone who is logged into a WordPress.com account, and will add your site to their Reader feed. If you want to add an option for someone to subscribe via email without having an account, you want this widget instead:

    Hi Kokkieh,

    Thank you for coming back to me.

    The information you have provided on adding a widget for non-logged in users was very useful and has been applied.

    On the page “Contact”, there are two options.

    On the right is the “Send me a message” which sends an email to the chosen email address that I have set up and this form works fine.

    On the left is “Join the Newsletter” where someone can enter their email address. This is linked to Mailchimp.

    This was the section that wasn’t working and returning the error message of: “Your subscription did not succeed, please try again with a valid email address.”

    After I had posted the help request. I went through all the settings and the person who told me it wasn’t working was then able to complete and sign up successfully.

    My co-writer tried last night. He received a different message:
    “Whoops! There was an error and we couldn’t process your subscription. Please reload the page and try again.”

    He did and the same message was repeated. As a test, when I entered his details, it subscribed was issue, so I am at a loss to what could be causing that. Both of us were using Firefox at the time.

    The form is basic and I had hoped to be able to change it to include first and last name but while I could see the form code within Mailchimp, I do not understand how to apply that to the Fifth Ring Press website.

    Since that part is specifically operated by Mailchimp, you’ll need to check with Mailchimp’s support on that.
