You're trying to publish a comment as….
-
Hello,
For weeks, I’ve been running into the same problem when it comes to leaving comments on WordPress blogs (my own and others). I’m signed into this account, I can post blog entries, and all other functionality, but when I hit comment, I receive a notice that:
“You’re trying to publish a comment as xxxxxx. You need to log in to that account before you can proceed.
Are you xxxxx? You are being asked to login because xxxxx is used by an account you are not logged into now.”
I even see my own little gravatar image and user name, not the other account.
The redacted email is for another user who used my browser. I’ve logged out several times, cleared cache, etc. but no matter what I get this frustrating message even when I’m logged into my account (as I am now leaving this forum query).
Is this is a known bug? Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also, when I’m in the comments section of a blog, I’m clearly logged in as myself because in the text box it says,
Acid Free Pulp: You are commenting using your WordPress.com account.but then it takes me to the aforementioned page listed in my initial query.

Hi @afpulp,
Can you provide a few additional details?
First, could you link me to a blog where this is happening?
Second, when you try to comment, are you logged into your account at WordPress.com (I assume so)?
Third, could you let me know what details you’re inputting (email address particularly) when you try to comment (if you put in any details)?
Thanks!

I answered all of these in the original query. please see above or below for your ease,

Could you please post the email address of the user account you’re blocking out with the xxxx? The email address will not be available to anyone else in the forum, only staff members. I do not see the email address in either your original or reposted query.

I am also having this problem. When I go to write a comment on another blog, I see my gravatar image and info for the account I am signed into. But when I press “post comment” I am taken to another page that says:
You’re trying to publish a comment as *******@yahoo.com. You need to log in to that account before you can proceed.
You are being asked to login because *******@yahoo.com is used by an account you are not logged into now.The account it is asking me to log into is one I have not used for over three years. I have deleted the blog and all its contents, deleted blogs I followed via that account, removed the gravatar and I even changed the email last week when this problem persisted, but nothing has worked. I would greatly appreciate some help.

@jeremylduvall>> (email visible only to moderators and staff)
this is not the email that is logged into. My username is afpulp and I’m able to “like” people’s post, but not comment.

Hi @atrueunfolding,
I believe the issue here is that the email address you’re using to comment is still associated with or has been associated with a WordPress.com account in the past. If so, you will be unable to comment unless you login to WordPress.com. We do this as a precautionary measure to protect against someone else using your identity. If an email address is currently or has ever been associated with your account (even if you change it), you will need to login.
I believe the same situation as above is applying here. That email address you mention is currently associated with a WordPress.com account. If you enter that email into a comment form, you will need to sign-in under that account.

I don’t understand what you mean. I’m logged into this account. On the forms, it even says in the reply form: Acid Free Pulp: You are commenting using your WordPress.com account. ( Log Out / Change )
This is me! Why can I comment in the support forums, like other people’s post, but not comment? I’m not daft; I’m not entering the other email acct. This is clearly a bug.

@afpulp – I apologize for the confusion. I mixed up your previous reply with another issue. That’s entirely my fault.
I just tried to make a comment from your account onto a private test blog I have. I was successfully able to leave a comment (the comment has since been deleted) so I suspect this is still some kind of caching issue. I didn’t receive the same error you’re describing. Can you try the following?
1. An entirely new browser (like Firefox) just for comparison
2. An incognito window in Chrome (File -> New Incognito Window)
3. Logging out of WordPress.com (http://wordpress.com/me), clearing your cache, and then re-opening Chrome

I did the logging out, restarting, etc.
The only thing–for the moment–that finally worked was clearing my cache several times. fingers crossed…
