Youtube allows more options now, can we use them?

    Hi everyone,

With Youtube you can now set the colour of the video box and add borders on embedded videos. For example &color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6&border=1 makes for a snazzy blue and aquamarine combo with matching frame.
However when I paste that code into the Shortcode, WordPress seems to remove all formatting and makes the video box plain. Is there any way to stop this?

To be honest, I can’t even get high quality mode working with &fmt=18 or &fmt=6. When the videos appear on the blog the HQ button is missing. When you press play, it reappears and is deselected, the video proceeds to run in low quality mode. Any way to fix this too?

Thanks for any help you can give!

No, there is no way to do that at the moment on WordPress.COM blogs.

Okay, thanks :) Also, what does the [ video ] Shortcode do? If you use it like the [ audio ] one, whatever you put in comes up with a ‘video does not exist’ error, even if you put in the location of an mp4 file.

You’re not supposed to use a link to an mp4, just a YouTube.

I’ve noticed that you don’t need to put YouTube in a short code anymore. Just the link works fine in posts (as well as comments). And I haven’t had a problem with &fmt=18 – it does enable HQ for me.

Correct, some of the YouTube options are available while other aren’t.

Yes, these are very new changes. But borders, etc, are not available here. I didn’t notice that HD was now an option, cool catch!
