YouTube and Blip.TV Videos Not Playing In Feed

I’ve embedded a few videos from both YouTube and Blip.TV into my blog and they play fine, but I can’t get them to play directly from the feed in Google Reader.

YouTube videos just appear as an image, and Blip.TV images don’t appear at all. I updated the Blip.TV show player and switched to having FeedBurner manage my feed, but neither has brought any changes.

    Thoughts?

It sounds a bit like a staff problem. I don’t think we can adjust the feed features from our blogs?

But give the thread a few more hours before you write a feedback. Maybe the fine people in here have a more qualified answer for you…

However, in Options -> Reading -> Syndication Feeds

    – you can adjust a few feed settings. Perhaps it is related to Full Text vs. Summary?

I embed YouTube video and it works fine. The problem is with the feed. I use Grazr.com to generate a reading list. Grazr handles YouTube video just fine. What it doesn’t seem to like is special WordPress code.

Is there a way to embed the YouTube code and get WordPress to leave it alone? I use my blog just to update the front page of a website. I don’t need the video to actually appear on my WordPress page?

If you put some text in there like “and this is one of my favorite Eighties tunes” it can be enticing enough to get people to actually come to your blog to watch the video. Good for readership.

But I don’t want people visiting the actuall blog. It is just an update tool for my website. I’d like the video to appear in the Grazr feed reader. Grazr can handle YouTube video. It just can’t handle what WordPress does to it.

I use Feedburner; read my blogs in Google Reader. My YouTube videos don’t play in my reader either. Just a stupid hyperlinked thumbnail of the video. This functionality used to work last year, but all of a sudden it stopped in Dec. ’07 or so. I’ve posted on this before, but no reply. If only I could call Matt Mullenweg himself, or someone else at Automattic, I would kindly ask if they know of this problem and what I can do to rectify it.
