youtube associated website confirmation
-
My youtube account allows me to verify my website: “Tell us if your channel is associated with another website. This will help us improve the quality of our search results and verify your channel as the official representation of your brand on YouTube.” as on https://www.youtube.com/account_channel_advanced
My domain is registered with godaddy, and hosted through wordpress.com
How do I do this with wordpress? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I would just enter your trailblazerguide.com URL. Though I suspect it would also work to use http://trailblazerguidedotcom.wordpress.com/ if you wanted to use that for some reason.

Thanks Josh,
Did that. Problem is, youtube wants me to verify it from the website side by:– pasting adding a meta tag to my homepage
– verify through the domain name provider (godaddy does not help, because I am hosted through wordpress.com)
– use google analytics (which I cannot link to a wordpress.com hosted site – I think)
– a google tag manager account (no idea how this works) -
Can you link me to whatever instruction page you are using on YouTube to work on this? I tried https://www.youtube.com/account_channel_advanced but it does not seem to go anywhere.
Thanks.

I found the link under the youtube channel settings >> advanced.
Don’t think a normal youtube user has this access..?
Under the place where you put your website address, is a little hyperlink with the text: “To associate with this site, you must verify that you own it.”
When you click on ‘verify’, it takes you to a google webmasters page that give you a recommended option of uploading an HTML verification file to your homepage, or
alternate methods: HTML Tag, Domain Name Provider (does not work, see previous posts), Google Analytics (cannot link analytics to wordpress.com), google tag manager. -
Okay, so according to this:
How to Officially Associate Your YouTube Channel With Your Website
If you have verified your account using Google Webmaster tools, then you can skip the verification step with youtube:
If the email address you use for your YouTube channel is already linked to your Google Webmaster Tools account and the site is verified under that same account, you won’t have to go through the verification step.
So you might try that path. We’ve got some Google Webmaster info here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Let me know if that path works for you.

Finally joy!
I got a TXT record from youtube/google webmaster central to add to the DNS record.
I added this on the wordpress.com admin page at:
store-my upgrades-domain settings-edit DNS.google webmaster central sent me to a new page with this message:
“Great job, trailblazerguide.com is now verified! You can now use Google services for your site such as Webmaster Tools.” -
Great to hear! Plus, I have now learned something new myself. Thank you for that!
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Otherwise, thanks for using WordPress.
