@minervamsquery never give someone else access to your wordpress.com account. Depending on the settings on YouTube, some video’s cannot be embedded into another site.

Hello there,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you please share the URL of the post where the YouTube video is added?
I checked one of your most recent posts ( 🔗️ ), and the video is loading fine on my end without any issues.
Just so you know, on a WordPress.com site, you can use the YouTube Block to embed a YouTube video.

Hi
Think I’ve solved it. In the past I would schedule a video release for later and embed the URL in WordPress using the YouTube block. However with a future scheduled Youtube link the YouTube embed no longer works that way. I have to remove the YouTube schedule and change the visibility to public. This is what I did with the link I sent you. Sorry, I should have updated you.
Could the functionality of the YouTube Block be reverted to work with scheduled Youtube videos please?
Thanks for your prompt reply. -
No problem at all! I’m really glad to hear that you were able to figure things out.
To embed the video on platforms like WordPress.com, the video needs to be public.
Could the functionality of the YouTube Block be reverted to work with scheduled Youtube videos please?
I’m not entirely sure what you mean. Are you asking if it’s possible to embed a video that’s scheduled but not yet published?
If that’s the case, it’s not possible. The video has to be public in order to embed it with the YouTube block; otherwise, it won’t work.
Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

I’m having the same issue. All of a sudden, embedding a YouTube video is not working. I embedded a private video in a blog post that was also not released. The video showed as a link rather than a video thumbnail. Once the video and blog post went live, the video still showed as a link (not as a video). I went back into WordPress after both went live to embed the YouTube video again, but it still isn’t showing up on my blog post.
In the past, I never had an issue embedding a private YouTube video into a blog post. Why all of a sudden is there a change?

Thanks for sharing the details.
First, embedding YouTube videos on a WordPress site is available for standard YouTube videos, playlists, and live streams. You can embed public and unlisted videos, but private YouTube videos cannot be embedded. This is mentioned here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/youtube-block/#add-a-you-tube-block due to recent core changes. You can review more details here: https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/39096.
I checked the blog post: https://lisamearsdesigns.com/2024/09/09/pretty-pink-posh-september-release-fall-card/ and the embedded videos are working fine now.
