Youtube embedding issue
-
uploading video from youtube but the video does not show when I preview the post? I have done this with other posts and it works just fine. The only thing I can think of that may be causing an issue is the youtube video has a custom thumbnail. Is there any way around this? Could that be causing my problem? And if so can it be fixed?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To display a YouTube video on WordPress.com, all you need to do is insert the link to the video on a line of its own, and that will embed the video.
For more information, see:

Embedding the youtube videos is not the hard part. I am having trouble specifically with youtube videos that have a custom thumbnail.
This was the first one I had trouble with, when I embed it and preview the post it doesn’t show up:
-
The video link you included worked for me on a test blog.
Could you provide a link to the post where you’re unable to get it to work, so I can take a look?
-
Now it’s getting really odd. When I preview the post, I do not se the video. When I published the post the video showed up. But, when I put in my website URL, it disappears again?
Here is the website URL: orlandoseen.com
And here is the URL for the single post: http://orlandoseen.com/2014/05/12/roadkill-ghost-choir-lazarus-live-on-wprks-local-heroes/
The video doesn’t appear in the first link but does in the latter.
-
I’m very perplexed by this as well. On my test blog the same video link works on both the home page and on the individual post page.
Could you try creating a new post with just the video link and nothing else on the same line (including blank spaces) and see if it works?
-
I just tried it on a different test site with a custom domain, and that appears to cause the embedded video to show up as a link.
What I would recommend is taking a screenshot from the video and making that your post’s featured image.
-
I posted it again without a title or any words or spaces, and still getting the same problem…
I guess I could always use the screen shot, but to me it would make the site look a little sloppy. I was hoping not to run into any major issues like this.
-
Sorry about that. There may be an issue with that particular video. If you keep running into this problem with other videos, please let me know.
-
It’s not the only video. I edit a video series of bands performing on youtube, and every one of the videos has the same issue. I upload custom thumbnails for all the videos on my youtube account, and they are all jpegs. I have never had an issue with embedding any of them on sites until now.

Okay, sorry for my confusion. From your first post, it sounded like it was just this one video.
I’ll need to look into this further for you. Do you have links to other videos I can use to test, both with and without the custom thumbnails?
-
Yes.
Here is the youtube channel with the videos that include a custom thumbnail (I just started working with them so it’s only the last 7 or so videos, you should be able to tell by the thumbnail including the large text): https://www.youtube.com/user/WprkLocalHeroes
And here is my personal youtube channel, I don’t use any custom thumbnails for the videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/chadapearce/videos
