Youtube embedding not working

  Good morning.
  I’m trying to embed a youtube video in my post. I have copied and pasted and I have clicked on the unlink button.
  However, when I update the post, it brings up the link in my post and not the embedded video. Please can you help me?

  Sorry I don’t understand. Where do I use it? Do I still have to use the YouTubes address somewhere too?

  You get the Youtube address from the brower bar, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7CMx5M5dao then you put it in the shortcode like

  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7CMx5M5dao]

  Ok I get that, but then is it inserted in the “add media” area or put direct into your post on a fresh line?

  It’s put in your post on a fresh line. You can center it or align it as you please.

  I have tried what you said and it unlinked the url but didn’t embed the video. I’m still stuck with only the link.

  Oh dear(I can see you rolling your eyes) but I have done that and it is still not working. I appreciate your patience and help. Here is the post with the url embedded but nothing happening.

  Give me an exact link to a post in your blog where you did the shortcode and it didn’t work. That is just a link to your blog in general.

  Hi again Raincoaster, I had forgotten to put the brackets around the url and short code, when I put them in the video appeared on the post, but now it says the video contains content from SME and will be restricted on certain sites. Can you explain what that means?

  What is the URL of the Youtube and how exactly are you trying to embed it?

  When it says ” the video contains content from SME and will be restricted on certain sites” that means that you can’t embed it and be sure that others can play it. They might be able to, or they might not.

  Thanks raincoaster for all the help. I googled SME and this is what I found
  Sony Music Entertainment.

  You’ve used copyrighted content owned by SME. The video may be restricted in certain countries, the audio removed, or the whole video removed, and you may get a strike on your account, all depending on what Sony decide to do.

  So I will see if I can find another video to put in. But that will have to be tomorrow now.
