Youtube pictures do not show up as pictures on my post
-
Panos, I forgot these. Here are the URLs for the songs in the different post. Again, I got them from the SEARCH box, copied in their entirety.
Janey Cutler singing “No Regrets”
Edith Piaf singing “Non, je ne regrette rien”

Panos wrote: As rain said, “for whatever reason, that’s still the wrong code”: the right URLs are those with the question mark. What browser and version are you using?
Panos, I am and for years am using Firefox, Version 3.6.3. Firefox always sends a message announcing new versions and I do them. If they do not send a message, then I don’t know about any new versions.
Timethief: I followed Panos’ instructions carefully. Now it seems the problem may be something in the YouTube or the Firefox, but that only came up after I posted my last post here. You already gave me the support URL. Do you remember that? And when the problems here become beyond what people here can address, then of course I will write to (http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/).
You say: indeed as you are having so many problems perhaps all of your support issues ought to be directed to Staff.
I reply, Thank you, Timethief, for your concern. Thank you, Timethief, for your concern.

@Lorna
I changed my test blog to the twenty Ten theme
I created a new post andused the codes Panos posted here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/youtube-pictures-do-not-show-up-as-pictures-on-my-post?replies=22#post-478005I switched to the HTML editor and copy pasted all three codes Panos provided into my post and then clicked “Publish”. You can see that the result here is all three videos displaying in the post just as would be expected. > http://leosquared.wordpress.com/2010/06/20/test-to-recreate-lornas-youtube-problem/
As I was not able to recreate your problem I advised that you contact Staff.

Timethief,
After Panos asked about Browser and version and prior to this post from you, I did indeed send a note to Staff.
However, although you had results with the Vallely posts, and I subsequently did as well following Panos’ advice last night to those Vallely posts, the songs in the other post “No Regrets” and “Je Ne Regrette Rien” did NOT publish.
I enclose a screen shot of what my draft looked like a second before hitting Publish:
Thanks, Timethief.

I’m glad to hear that you have already contacted Staff.

Timethief, did you notice in my post where it said that even when I followed Panos’ instructions, and regardless of the fact that you got the Youtube pictures, I did not. Ditto for the two songs in the other post.

Indeed I did notice that and as I cannot recreate the problem(s) you have in my test blogs IMHO that’s a strong indication that you need Staff help.
-
Sincere thanks to Raincoaster, Panos, and Timethief for your gracious help. Timethief, I appreciate that you made a 2010 blog just to help me out; I am aware that it took time.

Lorna, you said you’re getting the URLs from the Search box. Get them from the Share box. You must use the code with the question mark, and never the code with the #.
-
Raincoaster hi, thanks. No, when I wrote SEARCH BOX, that was me making an error. I have always meant the SHARE BOX. See my screen shots; they are all with the Share box boxed in red.
But Raincoaster, I have good and interesting news. After all my failures with the SHARE BOX, I just now reverted to what used to work for me until last night: I WENT BACK TO COPYING THE URL IN THE ADDRESS FIELD. And lo and behold, the post appeared with a picture of the YouTube image! Yes, it worked for me when I used the URL in the Address Field! And in the past and recent past as well, that Address Field URL has worked.
Here is my post: http://lornakismet.wordpress.com/2010/06/20/alan-keyes-rightly-calls-obama-a-radical-communist/
Here is the URL that I used from the Address field of the YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DlTgrMCxPg&feature=player_embedded#!
Thanks, Raincoaster, for your friendly help.

Sometimes that URL in the URL field does work: notice that the one you used has the ? instead of the #. That’s the key. I’d still strip out everything after the & for safety, but as long as it works!
-
Another success with my two songs.
Here is the URL:
And I copied the URLs in the Address Field of the Youtube videos!
Also: For the “I Regret Nothing,” I followed the Support procedure of clicking the video box, clicking URL, and then pasting the URL.
BUT for the “Je ne regrette pas,” I did not even go through the procedure of clicking the video box, the URL link, and pasting the URL. All I did was copy the URL from the address field and then pasted it right into the post…
And as you can see, the two videos are there! And when I did it using the Support page instructions, it did not work. Go figure. Now I am going to see and hope it the old fashioned way works for my Steve Vai guitar solos as well.

Lorna replies: Ok, I am going to write that down and stick it to my monitor and remember to do it when the old method fails. :-)
I feel a lot better and appreciate your support
