YouTube thumnail in reader
-
Hi there – I noticed that on my posts in Google Reader with You Tube videos, it selects a tiny thumnail and that’s it. Is there any way so that whomever is viewing it in a reader can actually see the video? Thanks :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

**thumbnail! oh gosh.

It shows up fine on the blog, but I notice that in Google Reader any video is just a tiny thumbnail.

I think this is standard behavior for RSS feeds in general, and the feed coming directly out of your blog, http://roundletters.wordpress.com/feed/ , does the same thing. Keep in mind that RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication” and as such they typically do not have a lot of bells and whistles built into them.

RSS is meant to give a simple preview of what is on your blog. It was never meant to stream your blog or videos realtime. Frankly if it ever reaches that point, it will become useless as it will take too long to load and people will simply quit using it.

Google Reader does allow videos to be played, just for some reason not feeds from wordpress. I don’t know why though. But, I have have hundreds of feeds and on Google Reader I think they try to prevent loading time by showing a few posts at a time but videos in the feeds still slow down loading time. But, it’s convenient to say the least.
