Hi, I am inserting a youtube url into my post, following instructions, but the video does not appear once I publish. Here’s the code that is currently in the post:

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The youtube link you provided above links back to a youtube search list WP.com doesn’t work that way for embedding youtube videos you can only embed the single video not a search result.
Here is the documentation for youtube http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/

Thank you! I knew it was going to be obvious…the documentation didn’t say anything about this, but is there a way for me to control what screenshot is frozen on the screen before people click play?

First off your welcome
as for your question the only person that has control what screen shot shows before clicking play is the person that uploaded the video.

Non of my posted videos are showing up on my blog. I’m using the URLs from Utube and they all were working earlier but not any more. All my embedded video’s on VodPod seem to be ok.

@cltdesign50megs
Will you please post the URL to the blog to which you are referring so we can take a look at it?Please look and see if the missing images are appearing in your Media Library.
May we also know which browser and version of it you are using please?

problem seems to have resolved itself. ALL url’s were gone. Once i switched to google Chrome I could see them. Now they are fine in Firefox as well.

The problem with YouTube videos not being seen in your worpress blog seems to be particular to the IE browser only.

I am having a similar problem and it doesnt seem browser related. I am trying to embed youtube videos in my posts/pages and am having no luck.
When I use the upload/insert feature to add a video, and choose “from url”, I get a hyperlink appear on my page – http://www.freethenation.com/about .
When I manually type in the code, the code shows up on the page – freethenation.com/test .
am i doing something wrong? Thank you very much in advance!

I cannot play wordpress embedded YouTube or DailyMotion videos in my IE8 browser on my WinXP PC on any WP site. It is particular to my IE8 browser on my PC. Other browsers or IE8 on other PCs, are not a problem. I tried everything. I cleared the cache, checked for viruses, put wordpress.com and YouTube.com on the list of trusted sites. I tried compatibility view. I turned off the pop up blocker. I tried removing the square brackets. I even reset all my IE8 browser setting back to the original installation. No luck. How is this possibe? Please help. I’ll do the work. Just give me recommendations. I have previously made a request for assistance from WP support [WordPress #467284]. But no response as of late. — Tim at ighsc.wordpress.com

As of last night when a few Windows upgrades were installed, I am having the same problem as ighsc. I can see them on Firefox however. I am interested in knowing if there is a solution…

Yes, I think thegreatas has it right. It must be a Windows upgrade related issue. I had my YouTube video working one day and the next it was not. There may have been a Windows upgrade in between that caused the problem. Timethief, could you look into that angle on this problem and get back to us?

I just went to my WordPress Site and was prompted to run the add-on Shockwave Flash Object (version 10.0.45.2) from Adobe Systems Incorportated. So, I did and now my videos are working again. You can try to manage your add-ons (through Tools) and see if it is just disabled or maybe go to Adobe to try and find the correct add-on…Hope that helps!

Holy YouTube Batman! It worked!
Apparently you need Adobe Shockwave Flash to make YouTube and DailyMotion videos display properly in IE8. Ha! Why didn’t someone at WordPress figure that out before? You are a genius thegreatas! Thanks, Tim -
