Hey there,
You can add the “Recipe Schema” plugin to have printable recipes on your site.Recipe Schema
Yumblog theme has a tight integration with Recipe Schema, a plugin that allows users to enter recipes that contain all the schema.org requirements to present recipes to search engines the right way.
•Recipes appear in Google Search results with thumbnail
•Adds a print button to each recipe
•Styled with a handwritten note paper appearance
•Supports saving to Facebook timeline
•Support for Amazon Associate
•Support for Whisk
•WYSIWYG editor for ingredients and directionsI hope this helps! =)

So, to be clear, WP doesn’t allow the plug in. I would have to shortcode if I want printable recipes but if I buy this plugin it will allow me this option? I’m still new to this so I’m trying to understand how I can streamline this process and keep my sanity :)
Thank you for your help.

You are correct. There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
