Zero to Hero: Day Eight
-
The Day Eight challenge was actually quite hard compared to the challenges the Daily Post offers, don’t you agree? Suddenly I have to get on my feet rather than helping others get on their feet. Haha!

I’ve been on this forum thread chatting, learning from other experiences and helping others all the time that I haven’t published a post lately, but I will today!

I really struggled on this one today.
I need to know how it sounds and if it works..
I wanted to add a picture, but it kept putting it in the sidebar and not the actual page.. I got frustrated and took it out. -
@michelleweber Changed my background colour Michelle. What do you think? Thanks again for your encouraging comments; much appreciated.

you are welcome. Once you do so all of the bloggers here would be happy to read your post. In my opinion blogging keeps changing with time. It like evolving something. It needs time to mature.
Reading is the reason we are here.

Hey, all! I definitely think this task is super important. I read some of the articles for creating an about page for the first time today. I think I covered some of the tips, but my only concern is: is it too long? I tried my best to edit it today, but it’s hard! I think the benefit to my (somewhat) longer sections is that I organized them according to about my BLOG, about ME, and about the blog’s LAYOUT. That way readers can choose what they want to read. What do you think? Thanks!

Oh man, this one was hard but I was glad to do it. I haven’t been happy with my About Me page and have been wanting to tweak it, so I’m glad for all the advice that’s been posted. Thank you everyone for all the pointers!

@captureyouphotography, I totally know how you feel. I can’t stress enough about this giving me a jolt, “Get up you lazy Luna, thinking you know everything. Stop having a suntan because that is really bad for your skin. You’ve got a task to do!”
As for advice, I suggest you should talk a little more about yourself and the blog. Don’t try to make it look so much like a story, but more of making things fluid and connected so you won’t seem so stiff. I noticed in your posts you are a little laconic. It all makes sense because you let your amazing photos do the talking, but try to look more open. Did I make sense? -
Personally I am going to check your site tomorrow as you promised for a post and would like to read it so don’t back off if you are planning to sleep. Others here would want to read it too.
Regards.

@michelleweber, that’s what I’ve been learning! Here at WordPress, the community is more close-knit than other blogging sites, even if the community is big! I’m amazed.
@greetingsfromindia, no I’m not planning to sleep. It’s only 5:47 here in Southern California. I go to sleep later than that.

Lots of people coming up with good “about” pages! Well done everyone.
Aside from the great stuff in About Page 101, I myself love to see an image on the about page. Ideally, an image of the blogger themselves personalizes the blog in a very significant way. However, many people don’t feel comfortable in front of a camera or have other reasons for not wanting to associate their face with their blog. And that is fine. In that case, an image that represents the “feeling” that a blogger wants to evoke can be wonderful as well. I’ve seen a cooking blog using a cake image with the blogger’s name written in icing and a fishing blog using a simple image of an unidentifiable angler on the river. Neither were of the blogger themselves, but both added something extra to the about page.

@michelleweber – I’m having trouble with the shortcode:
[display-posts tag="gardening" posts_per_page="5"]
Any idea why it’s not displaying the posts when I put it on a page? I’ve made sure there are posts with the right tag in it, but none show up. Could that be because there aren’t 5 posts total in that category yet? Very confused…

To everyone and @lunacooler
I like to laugh really and this evening my first laugh came when I read this from @michelleweber
I noticed in your posts you are a little laconic.
That is a wake up call and some reading to do.
anybody not laughing….kindly laugh now.
