I went back to my About page that I wrote a couple of months ago and cleaned it up s bit. I still feel like it might be lacking a little oomph. I would appreciate some feed back.

Thanks for this topic. I revisited my About page, tidied it up a bit, added a couple of sentences, and hopefully made it more inviting and less formal. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Oops – here’s the link in case anyone is interested.

@jillianmartin You have a very good about page. It really makes people understand who you are and what to expect when they read your blog.

@Uddza (Who’s user name sounds to me like a loud sound someone would exclaim when throwing a glass on the ground at a party…heh.)

I like your about paragraph. I do think seperating it out to be a couple of blocks of text instead of one big block would be a good idea. It helps me scan things a bit better when people do that. Although it isn’t a huge chunk of text :) Just my .02 dollars.

By the way, I’ve moved from Arizona to New York. I think that might be as big of a change as from England to the USA…

@doughippensteel I like the name of your blog. You say you aren’t good at names, but I think it really shows your personality. Your about page looks good (IMHO) and shows there is more to you than the flippant attitude of the post might suggest.

@fatherat54 your about page intrigues me. I’m 38 years old and have no kids. My youngest niece is 12 and my oldest one is in her early twenties. I actually have a great niece now and am bout to be blessed with a great nephew. I don’t have kids of my own or am in any type of relationship to have said kids, so it’s freaking me out a little. I want to read your blog to see how you are dealing with things – I know we are far apart in years, but I’m sure your thoughts will parallel mine in many areas.

    Hi all :)
I changed the first couple of sentences on my about page yet again, to hopefully catch the readers attention. I would love any feedback in the form of comments – there is always room for improvement and I’d like to know from the reader’s point of view :)

@deejrandom thanks for the input. I like the look of your site, I was wondering what the Flounder theme might look like fleshed out a bit. Nice work.

i already have an About page but no harm in looking at it again and trying to fix it if the need be. @michelleweber i have only done two of the assignments can i just continue with today’s assignment or go back to continue from assignment 3

  • Unknown's avatar

It took me a long time to write mine. I can’t think of anything else to write without it being to long. I tend to blab so I intentionally kept it short and right to the point. Don’t know if that was the right path. Open to any suggestions :-)

    about me

  • @llopez7324

I like the way you wrote your “about” section. It gives me a nice sense of who you are. My only critique is that, because of your “the blogger” sidebar, the about page ends up being a little repetitive. A future project might be to see if you can make the two descriptions more distinct from each other.

I like this assignment but I confused on the layout. Is the layout of our About Page connected to our theme?

Looking at the About Page for the people on this thread, the layout is really different from mine. the text is just a long narrow column. (scratching head)

  • Unknown's avatar

@cteavin The about section is just a page on the blog. The Layout should match the theme, but not necessarily be like a typical blog post.

    (slaps hand on head)

I see, I clicked “see complete profile” and thought that was my profile. It’s the gravitar profile.

  • Unknown's avatar

OK I think the about page got handled. LOL

    Hello! Anybody there????

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve gone through a lot of profiles from people posting here. I noticed no one has the Gravatars link.

Was I duped into filling out their profile page? Do the more experienced members think it’s necessary?

Have update my about page but still not sure if it’s too wordy. I wanted explain the story behind discovery our food intolerances and hence why I’m sharing recipes. Any feedback appreciated.

@jillanaross, for me, I’ve been reading blogs 24/7 since I started this last week. When I see large chunks of text I’m more apt to click away. On the plus, you have the two bolded lines which drew my focus.

Perhaps if you abbreviated your son’s story more? Or, breaking it into chunks with a different font/typeface? Perhaps you could give the paragraph some extra colour by creating a link to a wikipedia page with more information on the types of food allergies your family deals with.

Hope that helps. I know I learn most when people give me details, I’m trying to pay it foreword. :-)
