Zero to Hero: Day Eighteen

@maraeastern hopefully it should work now! I would definitely recommend flickr if you enjoy ‘serious’ photography, and there are so many great photographers you can take inspiration from on there

It really boils down to how much time you want to spend online and what your purpose is. But as the years went by I realized it was a huge time waster for me. I did however, run a very successful social media consulting business and met some pretty awesome people from FB in person. But for me, the real value is offline and not missing the important things in life. Now just look at what you made me do, I’m back here commenting to your comment….LOLAnd I did post a pretty awesome blog entry today about my grand daughter, and the picture is her ;-)

@frankmelio – thanks. @timethief – good points. About 1/3 of my posts are appropriate for Linkedin, the majority really aren’t. They aren’t things about my personal life but I poems and short stories might not be right…. I have a friend who puts everything on Linkedin and was pretty much following her example…

Thank you, perfect! I adore the design of your blog – everything is right in its place! I love the social buttons that you have, too – you are quite active in this field, as I see. Good on you :-)
I’m really grateful that I could see how you combine WordPress and Flickr, I always welcome inspiration from others!

I cannot click on your username, goes to a page of your previous comment links. -
My blog is about a sewing challenge that I set myself to make all my childrens’ clothes for a year. I can’t stand Facebook and Twitter and I feel sick at the thought of linking my blog to them.
However I love Pinterest and get many of my inspirations from there. I already Pin my creations on Pinterest. So for todays challenge do you think “kollabora.com” counts as a social network. I know it’s not the big 3, 4 or 6 or however many there are, but I have just discovered it and I think it may be more suitable for my blog linking.

Pros and cons on G+, anyone? I had a G+ page accidentally set up (thanks, Youtube) and decided to finally fiddle with what I had – feel free to search Laidig’s Broadway on there. I’d link you if I knew how… What little I know about G+, it seems no one is on there, and I have an allergy to Twitter.

It ‘s good to read your comments and discover that many of you feel like I do–that I don’t want to spend any more time than I already do on facebook or twitter, moderating a fan page. I had connected my blog to facebook from the very beginning, so it automatically posts to my page each time i publish. Still, only a few of my friends actually read the posts, LOL! Of course , that is their choice. I too don’t accept friend requests from people I dont’ know,a nd that is the way I’d prefer to keep it. Hmm..I think that this challenge has taught me how to be more social here on word press, so I think I’ll stick to trying to build up a community here, on facebook, and through search engines. Hope that is okay, and that my connection to facebook meets the challenge for today. Perhaps I will reconsider in the future, at least now, i know how to connect if I’d like. Thanks, I too love this challenge! Helen

I have a question. What does it mean when you go to comment on a post and it says ” A Active Acess token must be used to comment” I have had this happen quite a few times?
I posted my challenge. I am connected to a few of the social networking sites but there are some big issues with the fabcebook business pages in general that drive me nuts. I kind of went off on facebook in my post.

I already added widgets in the right side of my side bar to my blog about a month ago, so today I added a new post and attached both of my Facebook fan page and my Twitter account to it. I hope everyone had an easy time setting this one up. Have a great day.

@alaidig
I was on G+ for a few months, total waste of time. It seemed so pointless to me. They were too much like FB…lol -

Hmmmm.. social media and blogging. I have some issues with it. I link to twitter already. I have to admit though, I feel like a stalker hitting the share button as if I’m saying “read my blog, read my blog.” Lol…I feel like I’m begging. Months ago I created a Facebook like page. Later I forgot my oassword, am now locked out and have requested a reset but it hasn’t worked out. So yea, I have a Facebook like page u can’t access. Bummer.. on my personal page, I share sometimes but I have this thing. It’s crazy I will share with strangers on the world wide web, but have problems sharing with folks I know well. Crazy right? Anyway, I’m a day or two behind on the challenge but still putting forth the effort. Read my latest post, The Bone Collector.

This one was pretty hard for me, because I’ve always stayed away from social media. I know they’re handy when it comes to organization and whatnot, but the whole thing is pretty daunting. I don’t like giving out personal info, so I decided to try out these different platforms with my blog name as a pseudonym. I summed it up here:
-
@tjbarkerseattle, it all depends on (1) where you audience is and (2) the visual interest in the types of things you’d use Pinterest for — obviously, it’s a highly visual site, and cute/attractive/intriguing images are what wins there. There’s actually a really interesting convo on using Pinterest on The Daily Post right now.
For everyone:
As you venture into the world of social media, you’ll want to think about where you’d like to maintain the separation between blog-you and you-you — I’ve seen several of you chatting about that in this thread. This post might help you start to sort through some of that. -
I have linked my blog to my Twitter account and my Facebook Page without problems. However, I can’t find a way how to connect my Google+ Page to my blog. It is easy to connect my Google+ account but I liked to keep it personal (same way as my personal Facebook profile) and I’m publishing on my Google+ Page, not on my personal profile.
-
Just to clarify my recent post: I do find a way how to publish on my Google+ Page but how to install “follow me on Google+” which would lead to my Google+ Page and not to my personal Google+ profile is the problem. It’s easy to set up “Follow me on Twitter” or “Follow my Facebook Page” but how to do that for Google+ Page?
