Zero to Hero: Day Four
-
I loved doing this task as it gave me an opportunity to go through a wide variety of blogs. It was very difficult to choose 5 out of so many nice blogs, still I made it. I also blogged about this activity in http://wp.me/p4bXnt-B.

I just celebrated my second anniversary on WordPress. This challenge has made me brush up on things I tried out on my own. This is fantastic! Thank you!

Random thought: I want to join some blogging communities. Anyone know of any or where to look for some? I’m 20-something and post a lot of law school, health, fitness, and life in general.
I appreciate any help :)

I liked this challenge. I’ve been blogging on WordPress for about 6 months now and I never realized I could follow tags (well, I probably realized I COULD, I just never DID).
A little reminder like this is great. So assignment done!
-
I browsed through recommended blogs and found 2 food blogs I would like to follow. Have decided it would be good to pick the other 3 blogs from the zero to hero community. The daily tasks are certainly thought provoking.
-
I already follow some fellow bloggers, but its not a very long list. So this is a great oppertunity for me to search for more! The first thing that i do in the morning is cheking the blogs i love.
-
I have had my blog for about 4 years now, but for the last 2 years, posts have been very sparse. I am using the Zero-to-Hero tasks to bring my blog back to life. :)
I do have a question, though. When someone clicks on my blog post and it goes to the page with just that blog, it always puts and About Me box at the bottom of the post with my profile description. Is this necessary each time? Is there a way to disable this box from showing up?

Check out rushhourrant.wordpress.com. Once described as “music to my eyes.” by my good friend Steven King.
(Not to be confused with Stephen King, the famous author of contemporary horror).

Even though I’ve had a blog before this,I don’t follow that many. Here’s why
http://tomboyforlife.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/day-4look-at-the-horizon/BTW This forum is a good way to find blogs to follow as well.
-
I’m always on the hunt for new blogs to follow and be inspired by and I’ve actually found so many new blogs to follow via all of the ping backs I’ve been getting.
Anyway, here’s my “special” take on the challenge :-P http://theplayground.me/2014/01/05/sizing-up-the-competition-errr-i-mean-checking-out-the-neighborhood/ -
@robmikemom, it’s a feature of your theme. There’s not a box you can check to disable it, although if you wanted to explore using custom CSS, you could hide it that way.
If you do decide to give that a try, the folks in the CSS forums would be happy to help: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

I am already following several blogs, but I liked the idea of branching out and exploring topics I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards. I will see what happens as I explore today. The next challenge for me, and I imagine it will be part of Zero to Hero, is to get in the habit of commenting! I like postings, but don’t comment very often, but I know that is the true power of blogging and getting involved with the communities.
-
@michelleweber, thank you for clearing that up for me. I understand CSS pretty well, but I thought that doing CSS Customization was a Premium feature, and I am a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to me blog. ;)
I am also already following several blogs, but have not paid much attention to them lately. Today’s assignment prompted me to clean up the blogs I am no longer interested in, and to look up new blogs as we prepare to make a trip to Hawaii this spring. I am now following several new blogs related to travel and Hawaii and I even commented on several of them!
-
@Robmikemom I had to clean up as well, because I wasn’t paying much attention to a lot of the blogs that I had followed. I went from 135 to 52… makes me feel a lot better, and my reader too!

My blog search for today was pretty interesting! I feel awesome about myself today. :-)

I am trying to create a post for today and I can’t figure out how to add a video (or several videos) using the WordPress editor. Can anyone help? The Media Library doesn’t appear to support videos.
-
@robmikemom When you click new post, you have to click video… that’s the only way I know how. I’m not sure if you can do multiple videos, but I have done a couple of VLOGS on my site and that’s the only way I’ve been able to do it.

Here’s my addition to the topic:
http://vmandc.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/its-a-beautiful-day-in-the-neighborhood/I enjoyed this task immensely. It helped me figure out how to expand my horizons as far as my reader is concerned and exposed me to blogs I might not how found otherwise. I hope ya’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
