Zero to Hero: Day Four
-
cogitoergomum (so sorry I misspelled it earlier!) —
As I have been grokking the night away, it has occurred to me as it did to you that perhaps this would be a good time to SLIM DOWN my follows, but I feel as you do: they are all amazing or I wouldn’t have followed them in the first place… hmmm final decision has not been made, but yes I feel ya completely.

Thank you for great ideas.
I have just added my new five topics to follow in the reader.
And, they are new tags in my post for today’s assignment. -
Has this been answered already, or does anyone know…
I thought tags were searchable in google, no? So, even if we’re the only blogger in the universe using a certain tag — like my last name for instance — then anyone in the known universe could find my blog by searching that name in google…
No?

@authorelos, it’s not bad, it’s just different. Both have their pros and cons. If you want more of a compare-and-contrast, take a look at :http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/11/14/com-or-org/
@415whisperer, on WordPress.com, tags are how posts get organized in the Reader — they don’t have anything to do with how Google indexes your site. So if you tag a post “415whisperer,” it will show up if someone searches the Reader for “415whisperer,” but not necessarily in Google results for that same search. Make sense?
-
Yep, thanks.
I thought that was also where google looked for search terms.
Back to school on that one…

I am having a great time with this Hero to Zero Challenge. I just started using Reader and following some new folks. I’d love for y’all to come on over, read the blog and give me some more suggestions on who to follow.
-
To everyone talking about following people and having a full Reader:
I spend a lot of time fine-tuning my reader. I tend to err on the side of “too many” follows. I would rather follow someone and then later unfollow rather than miss a good blogger because I didn’t follow and then forgot about their blog.
It’s easy to fill up your Reader with more than you can easily follow. But the other side of that is that it can be easy to expect perfection and have an empty reader for months. Neither are very useful for a goal of being engaged with the blogging community.

Your about page looks fine. My only feedback is that I’m not a huge fan of centered text (unless it is poetry I suppose). But that is just a personal thing. The words you have written give me an idea of you and the blog.

I have completed day 4 finally. It took me a bit to find ones I want
To follow but I did. I hope to continue to follow blogs to follow. Bring on day 5…. -
Love this challenge! It’s super addictive >.<
Found loads of blogs that were interesting and fun to read…
Got challenge 1, 2 & 4 done… Still working on 3 ;-)

Wish me luck all :-D -

I have a 7″ Android tablet that I use primarily as an eReader for books. Last night, before jumping into reading my book (which I do every night in bed before going to sleep), I spent some time with the WordPress app for Android and I found the Reader in there! Now I really like having WordPress Reader! It’s great having the same tools whether I am on my laptop, desktop, or tablet. The only thing I wish it had that other readers have is the ability to filter and see only the unread posts. That would really help be able to see what is new for just today.
However, I am disappointed that the Windows Phone app for WordPress does not have the Reader (or any of the other menu commands for editing Blogs I Follow, etc.) I would really like to see the Windows Phone WordPress app become as capable as the Android app.

Did my assignment; it was really great to see the breadth of options out there!!!! I have to admit I am getting so frustrated with myself trying to get to this page daily without having email notifications sent from the forum. If I subscribed to zero to hero why isn’t appearing in my reader? Only the Daily Post is.

@birgerbird
You can always just bookmark the “Ideas” forum (where all these discussion threads are taking place):

@birgerbird
Sorry, hit too submit too quickly.
Subscribing to zerotohero (the tag) won’t make this thread show up in your reader. You can however use the RSS feed for this page to subscribe in your reader:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/rss/topic/zero-to-hero-day-four
All forum threads have an RSS feed up on the top right. Copy the feed, go to your Reader, click the “edit” button next to “blogs I follow” and then enter the RSS feed URL into the “enter blog URL to follow”. Screenshot:
However, that will cause a LOT of posts from this thread to show up on your reader. I just keep an eye on the Ideas forum for new posts/threads myself.
