Zero to Hero: Day Nine

What a great idea to type your favourite author into the topics. I never would have thought of this, but it’s a fantastic way to find people you can identify with! (I searched Caitlin Moran)

If you really – and I mean really really – want to be in the blogging community you have to work hard not to get addicted to the net. Especially in the beginning you will spend a lot of time in the community. But peu à peu you will find your individual way to avoid the “time-toilet-effect”. So the proposal to invest a certain number of time to read the blogs you follow is essential.
It will train my discipline I need not only to read but to write too.
Well, thanks again for all that inspiring input. -
Hi Day Niners, I’m a Day Oner. I figured this challenge would be a good goal for me to keep. I have a little catching up to do but I can do it! Here is my first post: http://billyboybloging.wordpress.com/category/zero-to-hero/

I really had a lot of fun with today’s challenge, I even put a post up on my page. I added way more than 5 new blogs to my reader today. I went and searched tags of specific topics that I like, and boom – I was in heaven. I’m excited to meet so many new people and get to ready everyone’s posts. I hope everyone else has fun today and finds some blogs that they enjoy. :)

Thanks zerotohero, my blog which started as a sole effort of both educating and inspiring stutterers plus the generally public was daunting at first. I alwats assumed aomebody already has it so why bother? Well I realized I was actually getting my message across, which to me was mindblowing! I now have a growing community, my stuttering group is helping me out with publishing as my authors, and my confidence in my ability to write. Thank you WordPress!
It would do me a great honor if you guys could follow me and my blog; westutterandwedontcare.blogspot.com

Tough at the beginning is right. I am finding the reader difficult to use. So far I think I have followed this ‘zero to hero’ post but that’s it.
I right an unconventional sports blog about all sports worldwide and I am struggling to find any other similar blogs. I am also interested in following other types of blogs but thought I would start there. Any recommendations.
Oh and one more thing, my latest post is about my sporting hereos and I think it is well worth a read. :)

Ok feeling a little disheartened…I have been asking …..without any response from anyone,……if I can be helped with the a query about people linking to my blog in their posts…..is this out of the scope of today’s forum… should I be waiting for Community Pool on Sunday? Anyone to the rescue please?? I miss @timethief!

@pkanwar1983
I’m here logged in under my other username and answering the 6 pages of support threads that racked up when I was answering zero to her threads. -
Whew! Finally :) OK should I be getting any notification if someone puts my blog name in their post and link that text to my blog….or if they straight away put my blog address on their post??
-
Sorry if I sounded a little pushy….but I’m kinda hooked to my blogging….and the zerotohero challenge….my laptop keeps sending me telepathic pings throughout the day! Thanks for the help always!

Your blog is public and that means anyone can link to your blog URL and/or to any posts and pages on your blog. If this is a reblogging question then go to http://en.support.wordpress.com/reblogs/ and know we cannot prevent reblogging.
The only way to prevent reblogging http://en.support.wordpress.com/reblogs/ is to make your blog visibility private > Settings > Reading
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/P.S. Some bloggers post notices in a text widget http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/ in their sidebar stating they do not want their posts to be reblogged. That has zero impact on anyone who wishes to reblog the posts anyway but If you wish to, then you can do that.
You can also comment on the reblog and ask the blogger to delete it but they do not have to agree to do so.

If their blog is set up to ping then you get a pingback and if not you don’t. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/pingbacks/

@timethief
I may have not framed my question correctly. If someone mentions my blog in the text of their blog….say they post ‘Oh check out this new blog http://%5Bmyblogaddress%5D’ on their blog linking this text to my blog, should I get a notification? -
@timethief
thanks will check this out…timedelay caused me to reframe the question while your reply wasn’t up on my screen… -
It’s all right following, say 5 more blogs but what I don’t want is email notifications every time a blog I’ve listed as “follow” adds a new post. Nor do I really want to know lengthy details of anyone who has chosen to read my blog, just a name is enough. Perhaps I am being anti-social but I really don’t want a full autobiography + family history + details of favourite foods and pop music just because someone has read my blog. Life is too short.

I explored the blogging world again for today’s challenge. One theme that really caught my attention was “Follow your heart”. These were the people who had gone to travelling leaving their comfortable lives or taken up a new profession like cooking based on hobby. Below is my blog on it: http://sanchitahobby.wordpress.com/2014/01/10/follow-your-dreams/

@lassfromlancashire, you can blog email updates from blogs you follow, if you’d like — head to your subscriptions settings, here:
