    support docs are everywhere on internet and I have not looked at them

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and different. See here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
    *I have experience with both so I’m clear on the differences but many are not clear on them.

    The support docs on the internet are aimed at WordPress.ORG installs. See here http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and note that they do not apply to our blogs nor does the rest of what’s labeled WordPress” on the internet.

    On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/

    The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.

    P.S. Know that I have a memory that rivals that of an elephant. I am a paralegal with a background in criminal law and any threat directed at me means I take action.

    You are very amusing. I told you that I already forgot about that incident here you want to go on again and again..

    Just to remind you:

    First etiquette to learn – Don’t be hostile to others
    Second etiquette to learn – Respect others
    Third etiquette to learn – Respect WordPress guidelines which strongly tell you to refrain from personal attacks.

    Regards.

    Few days ago she had attacked me and she is doing it again here. Would be kind of you to notice and remind her to follow WordPress Guidelines.

    I do not forget any threat and you are not in a position to dictate anything to me such as forgetting what you did. The fact you can easily forget that you submitted multiple threatening troll comments to my blog, after posting a nice one into a zero to hero thread demonstrates where you were coming from and nothing can change that now.

    Well, I’ve had a major change up of my blog as of a couple of days now and for today’s challenge, I’ve decided to upload a logo above my blog title but on trialling my old header, I decided it made everything too “busy”.
    If you load up any of my recipes, you’ll see the hand drawn header I used for my blog for most of it’s existence. I’m thinking its time to change it up and draw something else to use as a header image.
    What do you think? I had a very busy looking front page with my old theme (“suburbia”) so I chose Hatch as it looks so much more slick and stylish. It’s a photography theme but I think for my food blog it works very well indeed.

    Second question – I actually quite like not having any background at all (it was previously a fixed photograph of my very modern, custom made kitchen dresser with all sorts of foodie things piled into each box/shelf). Do you think it looks too bare? Or is it good to have a bit of white space…? Many thanks amigos! Xx

    I kind of struck out on this challenge. Everything I tried ruined the professional and clean layout of my new theme, so I didn’t change anything. You can see what I tried at the bottom of my new post.

    One week down and three to go! Good luck everyone!

    You are really not getting the point.

    The reason I was on your site to comment was because WordPress guidelines say:
    No personal attack

    You are just not willing to learn.

    @lunacooler

    I also use PicMonkey often to enhance and adorn photos I use in my posts – and I used it to design my header. Rather than include my blog’s title and tagline in the areas my template provides, I designed a .jpg that incorporated all of it, plus an image that relates and shows my personality. I often find myself spending a lot of time editing and changing photo projects that I do on PicMonkey, but it’s worth it. The end results are always fun and unique to you.

    As for a background, I personally just like to have a white background. This is simply because I enjoy adding color to my site with the featured images I designate for each post. But everyone’s blog is different and I love seeing everyone’s creativity as I visit different sites!

    Again today I have kept myself to respect WordPress guidelines and I am not being personal but you just seem to go on and becoming more and more personal.

    @michelleweber

    Would anybody from WordPress Admin tell @timethief to be respectful to other bloggers and not be personal?

    Regards

  • Unknown's avatar

    @nataliebergen, thank you! I really like how your blog looks; it’s so cute! White background is my thing too, except with the theme Pachyderm. For my blog I pair Pachyderm with a light turquoise tribal pattern for a background, and I like it.

    Oh, and BTW. Let’s keep this forum thread a positive conversation! Let’s try more to support others and give suggestions.

    I really wonder how people who have been commenting here forget one basic rule and that is to learn how to be polite to others. Now here under this box where I am writing ….is written

    We love positive and productive discussions, so please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community. Thanks!

    Now why is this not obvious to people who have been here for long time….

    Regards.

    @lunacooler
    Your About page is informative and quite charming. Like you I love the sixties and seventies because you’re talking about my generation. Your header is colorful and stunning. However, I’m not convinced you have the right background that matches it yet. I’m thinking a better color match and more subtle and subdued pattern would work better. That’s just a suggestion in case you are open to trying another one.

    You mention WordPress being complicated on your blog. It is more complicated than Blogger for sure but there is lots of help and there are resources too. Did you find these?

    Hello everyone, I am so excited to be learning a lot from these challenges. Thank you to everyone for your involvement!

    I’d like to ask a question here on the forum about personalizing your themes. I’m still a little puzzled about how you learn to adapt a particular theme so that it might look like some of the examples for that theme.

    How do you learn how to use the details of a theme? Would love to know. Thanks in advance!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Oh, and also, in my first comment on the forum thread, I said something about Pixlr, a more sophisticated photo editor than PicMonkey, but forgot to give the link. Sorry about that, so click here.

    I made my own header thanks to Lunacooler’s link… now I just need to do a background. I have a really pretty flower for my background picture but it keeps tiling and just repeating. How do I make it into one image?

    http://www.Onesahmscrazylife.wordpress.com there’s the link to my blog if you want to reference what I said?(A.K.A I’m not computer savvy so if you have NO idea what I’m talking about, you can look at my blog)

    What do you think? I had a very busy looking front page with my old theme (“suburbia”) so I chose Hatch as it looks so much more slick and stylish. It’s a photography theme but I think for my food blog it works very well indeed.

    I’m a fan and the switch to Hatch was IMO brilliant. I like what you have now and think the fact all those delicious looking images are on the front page means your blog can go without a header image. In fact adding one might make it look too busy.

    Second question – I actually quite like not having any background at all (it was previously a fixed photograph of my very modern, custom made kitchen dresser with all sorts of foodie things piled into each box/shelf). Do you think it looks too bare? Or is it good to have a bit of white space…?

    Leave it white – please!

  • Unknown's avatar

    @timethief, yes WordPress is more complicated than Blogger, but it didn’t get so complicated that I began to think, “Oh, what am I really doing?” I’ve learned a lot from Learn WordPress.com; that’s very helpful.
    Thank you for your suggestions. I will be sure to acknowledge that. When I uploaded the pattern image for my background it was a bit too loud so I softened the colors using PicMonkey by fading them.
