Zero to Hero: Day Seven
-
I read WordPress guidelines not to be personal to other bloggers. I was attacked by @@timethief here few days ago. So I went to @timethief website and inquired why she did that as I did not want to be personal here at WordPress. I was very polite. Next day I wanted to forget about it and sent her a message that I forgot about the whole episode. Today I wrote about zero to hero – 7th day and she started attacking me again.
You can read it all …if you are reading all the comments.
I kept myself restricted to WordPress guidelines.MichelleI I wish you a very happy new year.

@greetingsfromindia, drop it. We are coming to this blog to get help and advice on our blogs not to read about you — and you do come off like a troll. Follow your own advice, forgive and forget so that we can come here to get feedback on our blogs. And do not to reply to me. I will not reply to you.
@time thief, thanks for the info and links back on page one. I’m glad your posting links and teaching us how to look up information on our own.
These daily challenges seem small, but make a huge impact. I’m spending more time that I though trying different headers, themes, widgets. It’s a great experience and has got me thinking about how I define myself. I did not expect that.

I am not replying to you because you were not attacked by @timethief
I was attacked by her. So forget about it.The real issue here is ..
I posted about image widget and text widget and my comments were deleted.
while @timethief is doing that(providing links of her website and twitter) and getting away with it.I just point out the the bias done to me and being attack by @timethief
to @@michelleweberYou are write by the way. I want to forget about it but @timethief is not letting me forget it…
Regards.

My theme allows for a header, but I found it awkward so I put the image I wanted to use into an image widget. I felt this still added a bit of a personal touch, without being so overpowering. However, I’m afraid CSS might be a bit above my tech skill level.
I look forward to clicking through and seeing how others have gone about today’s assignment though! :)

As usual I enjoyed this exercise but found myself wishing I could hold one of you friendly support people hostage for a day with my questions . . . live . . . and in person. I also wish I had more time to work on this blog . . . will need to set aside time so that it doesn’t creep into my day job hours which is not good. I need a photo rehab too . . . can’t figure out why many of my images I tried to upload into my header are so foggy in the header and blown up, but look gorgeous on instagram, facebook, as they are. Also wanted to put the name of my blog inside my image . . . can I do that ???? Finally, . . . .
Question: how do I change the font color for the title of my posts??? and the hover over stuff? -
@saschoolcraft
You asked for feedback on your poem here
Tonight I can write the saddest lines, Pablo Neruda
and I can’t think of any words that don’t sounding cliche like awesome and fabulous. Following! -

Yes you can create a custom image header with your text on it. What is your operating system? Which imaged editing programs do your have access to? Or do you want to do the text over image online instead of on your desktop before you upload it?
Yes you can suppress the display of header text on some themes, yours included ie. Ideation and Intent but not on all themes.
>Appearance > Header
scroll down to enable or disable:
Header Text __ Show header text with your image.Question: how do I change the font color for the title of my posts??? and the hover over stuff?
You cannot change the font style, color or size for your post and page titles of any widget titles without purchasing a custom design upgrade and doing CSS editing.
See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom and CSS editing:

@greetingsfromindia, timethief is posting responses to specific requests for assistance from other bloggers; this is not the same thing as repeatedly posting unprompted links to your own content.
You are encouraged to respond to other posters when they need help, but unsolicited links, especially when posted repeatedly, are spamming. We will continue to remove these posts.
For personal issues with other WordPress.com members — this is *not* the place for those conversations. I’ve not seen any problematic behavior on these threads other than your own, and politely ask that any future comments be confined to the questions and issues being actively discussed in the thread.

Thanks – this is a goldmine of info… Have to say, I love Free Range Stock for free photos and am a huge fan of Picmonkey -for editing photos.

@mandiipandy
You did a good job on your About page and I like your butterfly in the image widget. Butterflies are a symbol of transformation. -
Thanks and understood….but please notice how I have pointed out about few issues.

Some people have been incessantly arguing about something that has nothing to do with the purpose of this forum thread, and a few have been telling on others to @michelleweber. Obviously, she won’t respond to them because both sides have done wrong things, and I’m sure she’s not one to add fuel to the fire. I’m not going to mention any names, but this is getting out of control, so dispense with the argument! I don’t like seeing this. I’ve kept it in, but I’ve had it already. Let’s keep the mood positive!
As for headers and backgrounds, I suggest that you should change your header and background in accordance with the holidays and seasons, so that people will know that you are not so desk-bound that you don’t know what’s going on around you. For Valentine’s Day, you can use red, white, and pink with hearts. Or you can just change your theme altogether. But don’t let the header and background distract readers. One time my header’s width was so big I could stretch my hand across it until I couldn’t stretch anymore, haha. But I have to say it was really, “HA! In your face!”

You are a very helpful person, @timethief! I don’t have a lot of questions about WordPress.com and I’m more on giving suggestions, but you have given me some helpful feedback on my blog.

I love my new theme – Mantra and I designed a fun little header for my blog. I am loving the Zero to Hero challenge. Despite being a year-old blogger, I am learning new things and having fun with my blog!

@lunacooler
http://toraveabout.com/ is not a free hosted WordPress>COM blog. It is a WordPress.ORG install http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and you need to hire a web host to have that version of the software. Here’s the comparison link http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/P.S. Thanks for the thanks you posted above. :)

I guess I’d better add this too just in case you think that theme can be used on a free hosted WordPress.COM blog.The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot upload any third party themes, create child themes or our own themes or edit templates.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. Please read > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Also note that premium themes and all upgrades provided through WordPress,COM can only be used on free hosted WordPress>COM blogs and no others.

I like today’s prompt, I never knew I could use my own header! and I changed title again. What do you all think?
