Zero to Hero: Day Two
-
Hi! I need some suggestions from this forum. My blog is written in my mother-tongue which is not English. However, I am very happy to join this challenges as they make me grow further as a blogger. How can I make use of this challenge? Should I just continue writing in my language or make it bilingual or switch to just use English?

Blog Title: Marla’s Musings
Tag line: A young professional’s thoughts on balancing work, life, and everything in between.Question for the experienced folks out there. Is the tag line too long?
-
@purborinisulistiyo that’s a great question! I guess it depends on who you want your readers to be. Bilingual might be a lot of work for you, but if you can do it, you’ll reach more people. If I were in your spot I’d think long and hard about who I really want my audience to be and who would relate well with the content. And if making it bilingual makes sense, then go for it!

Question: I’m not sure if this is the right place or not, but I cannot seem to get anything but my “About” page to show up in my “Home” menu. Strangely, new posts did show up in the “home” menu when I first started the blog, and I did not intentionally change that. however, I did have to fiddle around a bit to learn how to make different menu item show up in the blog. where can I go to find out how to fix this? thanks!

Hi randomblog2014 – I am having a similar problem – trying to create a new page. If you go to dashboard – appearances – menu – then click on the help button at the top right hand corner it may help.
if you have already tried this – sorry! -
-
Thanks, morgannagrom2013, it did help — I had to set up a new menu instead of using the one I had (would have liked to figure that out), so it does what I want now.

Glad I could help. Just returned to thread after watching Sherlock – brilliant. Thanks for following my blog – I had planned to follow you once Sherlock finished – so the words great, minds, think, alike spring forth

http://cheapandfabulousmom.wordpress.com/about/Ok here is where it gets tricky. I’ve updated a new about me section and the old one is still showing up right along with the new one. Welp!

Experiencing difficulty being succinct in the widget, but happy with the name and tagline.

@jillian martin
I checked out your blog. I noticed down the sidebar you have: the blogger, the twitter, the instagram, the archives… so for your name: how about “the jillian martin”? or The Blog of Jillian Martin. You mentioned that you like alliteration. I love alliteration. Jillian’s Joy or Jill’s Joint could work. You could use your last name instead e.g. Martin’s Musings.
I hope you land on something. :D

My theme doesn’t like me having a tagline, so the title ended up taking its place in the grand scheme of things. The widget stumped me for a bit, but it is there! Just not where I anticipated.
Hopefully, I can keep up with these challenges after a late start. Good luck to everyone! c:

I added an about widget, but I’m wondering if the sidebar is getting too busy with all the widgets I’ve got going on now. Any advice? http://lorenrhoads.com/

Ok….I’m way behind on my assignment :)
That being said, here’s my Blog name, tagline and text widget about my blog.
Feel free to comment, critique. I’m open to suggestions. Thanks!

I am totally playing catch up with all the assignments!!!
For my personal blog I am having the hardest time coming up with a tagline. My title is okay I think but not snazzy or grabbing in anyway. As far as the text widget I think it is pretty okay a little too wordy maybe but I’ll keep messing with it here and there :) http://thebestyeary.wordpress.com/
I also have a second blog which is for a specific project I plan on completing this year. I am happy with the title and tagline, unsure about the text widget though and unfortunately it doesn’t show up until the bottom of the page.

Let me know what you guys think (good or bad) if you get a chance :) Cheers!

Since I have (as few others) completely misunderstood the challenge my first and last post about Zero to Hero stays :D but I am gracefully letting it go :(
But! I am interested in finding interesting people and blogs to read so I will be keeping track on this thread. ;) Also, you are very welcome to check out mine: http://ivymosquito.wordpress.com/
Peace!

Tagline are very brief branding messages. Your tagline is too long and will not be displayed by Google and other search engines in full. For what I do see Creating an effective Tagline
Taglines are not blog descriptions. Blog descriptions can be placed on your About page. See here for what I do with mine Creating and effective blog description -
I can not say I am completely happy with the title, tagline or widget, but I played around with enough to get close, I think. IDK
