Zero to Hero: Day Two

  • Unknown's avatar

Another helpful hint in pimping out my blog and hopefully getting more traffic. I was already happy with my title and just changed the tagline a couple of days ago to a more appropriate description based on how I want to change things. About.me widget and text widget added. Already excited about tomorrow’s tip!

I amended my tag line only the other day, it used to be “positivity, photography and the pursuit if imperfection” but I realised the photography is an aside and mindfulness is actually much more important to me and my blog. Please pop by and let me know what you think.

Also, am worried because I chose a theme without a sidebar so I can’t do widgets, I wonder if this is a big deal? What do people think?

Yes and no. I understand and like my header and tagline. But I wanted feedback from others on what they thought. But thanks! :)

Hello fellow bloggers! I have just completed the new task for Day 2 of the Zero to Hero blog challenge. Updated the Title, Tag Line, and posted an ‘About’ widget. I would love some critiques or likes (depending on your view). Happy reading!

A virtual “gallery” rather than a real blog, this one was in need of this Day 2 treatment. Changed the name, tagline and about page :)

Healthy blogs draw the majority of their traffic from search engines because people type specific keywords into the search engines like Google when they look for blogs with specific content. The Site Title link is the most important link on your blog. Both the Site Title and the Tagline ought to contain keywords that you think other people looking for blogs with the kind of content your blog has into search engines.
I like your URL and Site Title.

A hoot and a half reading: reading and laughing is what I do.

Im not in agreement with those who say your Tagline is good and I wonder how experienced they are with blogging, because theres a repeated keyword in it and the laughing is what I do phrase does not even display in what is indexed when searching Google. This is what Google is now displaying in the SERPS (search engine page results) for your blog.
    https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=cr&ei=dyvHUqmaK9ProAT7soCgCg#q=http:%2F%2Fahootandahalfreading.wordpress.com%2F You can refine it.

I`m not cool with your About me widget because you are using full stop punctuation in it, as well as, ie. misusing other punctuation.

    I am …

… a Christian. an Avid Reader. a Sister. an Aunt. a Friend. an Animal Lover. an Encourager. Creative. Kind. a Runner. Awesome. Loved. a Lover of Giraffes. Pretty Funny (if I may say so myself).

And many other things that I can’t think of right now. ;D

P.S. I apologize for messed up bit above. This keyboard is making every single quote into a backtick.

@alieonora, if it’s published on your blog, it’s in the right place :)

@timethief, glad you’re having fun, and thanks for sharing your expertise.

Well I have now done a second blog, day two. Took as inspiration something I did today.
    http://susipet.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/bittersweet/
Would be happy for any comments.

Managed to change the title to Susi matters… As although I am still working out what I will blog about it will be about matters about me in some way…and I guess the play on words is reminding me that my words matter, to me and maybe some others.

Haven’t at all worked out widgets… It’s a mystery I am leaving for today. Think I need someone to show me rather than read about..

Enjoying the process, the discipline of having decided to blog every day..and just to experience what that’s like.

    Loving reading others blogs. Inspiring.

    Enough!
    Thanks

@timetheif – How do you do a Google Search Engine Page?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi ladies and gents! I just posted my first post and created an “About” page. Huge progress from the blank page that I’ve been sitting on for the past year. Sure, the theme could use some work but…one step at a time.

I’ll be reading through this forum and yesterday’s to support my fellow Zero to Hero participants. I’d reeeeaaaalllly appreciate if y’all would check out my blog, too. Please and thank you :)

    Hello! Here I am.

Tellingly I dawdled through day 1, but have caught up now (better late than never).

I have a title, tagline, gravatar, and two little widgets. I also have several pages – or perhaps these should be called ‘drawers’ – either way they are currently empty!

I’m looking forward to keeping up with the ‘zero to hero’ challenge as much as I can, it’s great to have company along the way – chances are I might dawdle on occasion, but I’ve had some of my best conversations and ideas in the back of the pack.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yep, dawdled my way through submitting the post and forgot to include the link to “The Dawdler’s Filing Cabinet”

I’m just about to emigrate “from Gainsborough to Georgia”, hence the title of my blog, which contain “tales of an Englishman in the American South”. The theme I’ve chosen doesn’t seem to allow a tagline, so I’ve used a text widget.
Any feedback welcome and comments on my post even more welcome!

Well I created my blog http://amy59.wordpress.com/ yesterday and have already received a compliment on the title and tagline I created so I’m pretty pleased with it! I’m amazed at the followings and lovely comments I’ve received and am really looking forward to continuing with my blog, my challenge and this 30day challenge – I think it will be a great way to learn about blogging and how to manage a blog in easy bitesize steps

Zero to Hero: Day 2 of 30 – Very good challenge based in good business sense. I recall learning about the ‘elevator’ pitch (that is that you need to be able to explain your idea to an investor in the time it takes to go from one floor in an elevator to the next). If you can’t do it, they’re not interested. And not just because they don’t have the time, but because your idea isn’t clear enough yet to capture their (and hence anyone else’s) interest and imagination. This challenge made me think about how I could condense the reason for my blog into a few words that would draw in like-minded people and in a surprisingly short time I came up with something I think is perfect for my just started blog on photo credibility:
You want your photographs to live on in the world. I want everyone to understand what they mean.
    Does that speak to you?

  • Unknown's avatar

wow, it took me such a long time, but i think i’ve got my about widget now. Let me know what you think
