Zero to Hero: Day Two
-
Day Two complete. I went with “Shorthanding Sanity: Because blogging is cheaper than therapy.”
I made my about widget, which I love, but the problem I’m running into is that I don’t have a *SIDEBAR.* I want to add one but am clueless as to coding. Any suggestions? I really like my theme and don’t want to change it…

My name is Oui Depuis (well, if you translated it the two syllabels of my name to French that is). I have used it for years and years and it didn’t even cross my mind to change it when I bought my web address. And than I started reading some stuff and was like ‘maybe it’s not the most effective…’ but you know, web address was purchased and it is just ME so that’ll just have to do.
As for my tagline ‘around the world’, because that is what I am doing. I haven’t lived in the same place for more than 10 months in a row for the last 7 or 8 years.
I don’t know if I want a ‘me’-widget. I have an about-page and I think my tagline kinda sums it up.
Any thoughts?? http://www.ouidepuis.com

Woo-Hoo! Figure out the whole “link” thing with the Text Widget. Feels good to understand a little HTML!

I’m still working on the text widget, but did get my About Me page up. I ended revamping the rest of my blog as well. Still a work in progress.

Happy New Year everyone! My “About this Blog” widget has become a “Welcome” widget, and has been revamped numerous times over the past year, as I grew more into understanding my writer-self:

I always get comments on the simplicity of the name and the Tag line on my blog. Check it out and decide for yourself. I think you’ll find it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Hello lovely people, I’ve been far for a while, but now I am back! I made some editing for my gravatar widget, and somehow merged it with the about me widget, could you please take a look and tell me your opinions? I really will be glad to hear from you.

Hello again! I have finally done the challenge for today. Through it all, I must say I found myself over thinking the process, mostly because l am torn between keeping my page layout or converting to a layout that is reads differently. Although I am still very much undecided I have again completed the task. Til tomorrow!

My url and blog title came along by accident. A while ago when I first made a youtube account (purely for following not posting) I wanted the username laurenthenerd, as this was taken youtube suggested laurenthenerdable. I thought it was cute and quirky so I went with it!

First and second task done and dusted!

this project was just the kick in the knickers I needed. I got ahead of myself and wrote about my blog title in Day 1 and on my About Me page. But today I did mess around with widgets and I think I like the about.me widget rather than a plain text widget. I can’t figure out how to do an image widget. I can’t figure out how to find my photo’s url.

Thanks for the critique. I understand what you are saying and will work on some things. -
Complete! My blog is called I Had a Pearl:
http://ihadapearl.wordpress.com/
The name comes from a song that I feel summarizes how I feel about writing, which is what my blog is about. I added the widget and the badge, now I’m off to work on a DP challenge post. Hurray!

Since I started my new blog yesterday, I am going to stick with the name and tagline. I did create an about me today. The only problem is I am having trouble with the about me text widget. It doesn’t recognize my url. I will keep working.

I tweaked the assignments to meet my needs today. And then I scrambled to get my post in because I’ve been tinkering with my site much of the day. (I have a personal agreement to post everyday.) I am finding that this challenge is really giving me a boost. I have caught myself sneaking on my WordPress App multiple times a day. I admitted that I am powerless over blogging. I’m SO glad I took this challenge! Thank you all for participating.

I had already created a blog name, tagline & text widget with info about the blog. After viewing some of the other blogs I shortened my tagline and changed the text widget slightly. The name of my blog is Stay Curious but that domain name was already taken so I have istaycurious.com as the domain name. So far this process has been very helpful!

Day 2 complete! Phew, even with a little HTML in my background, I’m finding I am humbled by the WP site on occasion. Will look into more tutorials :-) I really appreciate the 1 day at a time approach and learning bit by bit. My brain and my spirit enjoy learning new things!!! Now off to do something post-worthy…

Blog’s undergoing another revamp since I discovered I can’t actually do the second task justice with the theme I currently have. Sadface. However, I do have a little text widget (on the right called ‘What is This?’). I promise this isn’t traffic-boosting a post, I just currently have no other way of sharing it with you guys in the way the task would otherwise have me do. Once I choose a new theme, I promise it will be on my home page! Changed my tagline, too :)
