zip format for theme

  Hi I purchased a theme and I am trying to use it on a hostgator platform. I need a zip file to upload it. How do I get that? Thanks,

  Are the themes able to be used interchangeably? Someone is creating the site for me and I really like the theme that I found. If I can get it in a .zip file, can’t he just upload it?

  It always pays to give as much info as possible so volunteers and staff can point you in the right direction. @hacchism has given you the link with details about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. What theme did you buy and where did you buy it from? If the theme was purchased here https://theme.wordpress.com/ it is designed to only be used here. You can’t use it on a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software. (If the theme was purchased elsewhere then they are the people to ask for help).
