  I am trying to migrate my wordpress.com site. You sent me my files as ‘xml’. Can you please send them in .zip or .tar?

  The only way to migrate from WordPress.com is to get the .xml file. You’re going to import that to a new site set up on another host, and the import process copies over from the site here to your new site. It’s not possible to get a full site backup with the files and database, since this is a large multisite network. You don’t have separate files just for your site to take with you.
