【Twenty Sixteen Theme 】Widget Questions

    Hello Everyone!

I’m new to the WordPress Family and I have some questions regarding the interface of my blog website. Currently using the Twenty Sixteen Theme.

    1. There are 2 content bottom areas for widget in this theme. I’m not sure why but there are some bold black lines in between my widgets and I don’t want that many lines there. In Twenty Sixteen Theme officials example that they do not have that many lines in between their widgets but I don’t know how to fix mine.

Here is a link to my blog post: https://beproudbeproductive.wordpress.com/2022/06/11/book-review-atomic-habits/

When you scroll down to the bottom of the post, you can see after the post, it has a black line then a section to “previous blog” “next blog”, then another black line –> nothing in that section, and another black line “follow me!” & “email subscribe” sections. It only appears on the blog post page but not the Home page of my website.

(*Since I don’t know how to attach a picture here, this is the best that I can explain my situation…please tell me if you need more clarification)

    2. If I want my picture in a blog post to align with my text instead of going full width, how to I do that?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hi there,

When you scroll down to the bottom of the post, you can see after the post, it has a black line then a section to “previous blog” “next blog”, then another black line –> nothing in that section, and another black line “follow me!” & “email subscribe” sections. It only appears on the blog post page but not the Home page of my website.

Those lines are part of the theme’s design. The post navigation links have a black border above and below, while the widgets in the footer each have a black border above them. The section with nothing in, isn’t actually a section. It’s just the space between the blog navigation links and the widget area.

You can see the same thing on the demo page for the theme if you click into the single-post view:

You don’t see that on the homepage, as the homepage isn’t a single post, so it doesn’t show the post navigation links.

The only way to get rid of those borders is to add custom CSS to your theme to modify the design, and that requires our Pro plan.

    2. If I want my picture in a blog post to align with my text instead of going full width, how to I do that?

With this theme, if you use an image that’s wider than the content area on its own line in a blog post, i.e. not inline with your texts, it will offset the image to the left.

The only way to prevent this is to make sure your images aren’t wider than the post content area, so after inserting an image, click on the Image Size option in the editor sidebar, and make sure the width of the image there is 839px or less. Then the image should display aligned with your text.
