Bio
A long-time single mother, I was born and raised in New York's iconic Hudson Valley. Having served for thirteen terrific enlisted years in the U.S. Air Force, I had the good fortune of living and experiencing places such as Alaska, England and Washington D.C., as well as a handful of other smaller, rural bases. The opportunity to expose my two daughters to life outside of what was familiar to us will always be considered some of my greatest blessings. Throughout those years, I learned a new career in the medical/dental fields, however as a strong-minded woman who didn't yet recognize, or want to recognize her own mental health challenges of depression and anxiety, I struggled needlessly, not yet knowing the root source. I managed to keep my head above water after an unexpected divorce, accomplishing a Bachelors' of Science in Environmental Management and Biology, and later a Masters' degree in Public Health, in hopes of using the knowledge to understand and boost others. I have always had an interest in how the environment affects people as a whole, and the public health insight expanded my thoughts to recognize that the environment as we know it involves far more than most of us realize. I now maintain an awareness of our environment consisting of things such as community, relationships, disparities, financial status, abilities, and much more. I relocated to North Texas in 2012 where I again faced some of my toughest-yet life challenges. In the end, I have two women to thank for ultimately arming me with the will to create a life fulfilling to me. The first is my older sister who has always given selflessly, working and volunteering in the non-profit sector throughout all of her adult life, and the second is our mother who sacrificed her own self-fulfillment of writing and medicine in the 1950's to marry and raise her family, as was expected of many women in that day. Without doubt, because of these two strong women early on in my life that I set out to shed light on the good, the bad, and the ugly that most of us women face daily. I reluctantly yet proudly know first-hand the struggles faced by single mothers and working women, as well as the strength it takes for women to be their best versions of themselves. The mission of Strong Women's Wellness is to bring hope and support to all women, and most importantly, encouraging them not to give up on their own growth and self-improvement, no matter their youth or past experiences.
