Bio
I'm saved by grace through faith in Christ alone; married to Monica, Dad to April and Aaron, Dad-in-law to Lindsey, and G-Dad to my grandsons. I earned a Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1992) and a Doctor of Ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (2007). I've pastored and planted churches in Texas, Spain, and North Carolina, and preached in many more. I trained over 350 missionaries to serve in 20 countries across the European Union, and came home to San Antonio, TX in 2015 to honor my wife's father and mother. I love to study, write, and speak about God's Word.
About This Blog...
A 1689 Baptist is a cup of cool water for anyone who thirsts for Christ's righteousness. The title acknowledges the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as the fullest flower of Christian confessions extant. We never want to superimpose onto Scripture any uninspired confession, but the 1689 is a faithful summary of important biblical teachings.
The posts are primarily expositional studies of Scripture with devotional observations and applications for the reader's benefit.
